NFCU reallocation

I understand it's been reported by members that NCFU will reallocate credit lines if you state you want a balance transfer.  I had two credit cards with Navy Federal but did not see an offer for balance transfer.  I sent a secure message saying I did not need 2 credit cards and requested to transfer credit limit to Flagship and close other account.  I also requested an APR reduction.  I did not get a reply for 2 days but got response that my request for an APR reduction was approved and that I needed to reply that my allocation was approved and I needed understood my GO rewards would be closed and could not be reversed.  48 hours later Flagship was at $80,000, APR was reduced and GO rewards was removed from my accounts.

it appears that reallocations may not require suggestions that balance transfer is needed.  YMMV

How old were your account, to my knowlege you can only transfer credit limit if the account is older then 2 years or for the purpose of a balance transfer.

Re: NFCU reallocation

Did you have to tell them you wanted to do a balance transfer? How did you request it? Was it by sending them a message?

Re: NFCU reallocation

I sent a secure message.  As I remember it took over 48 hours to respond, thought it meant they declined my request.  I said I wanted to close unused accounts and consolidate credit lines.  I didn't use the balance transfer "trick" because I did not have an offer for one.
