NOW should I close my subprime cards?

This year I received the following cards:

Wamu 01/2008: $1500 ($600 balance. Will PIF as soon as my ING transfer goes through)

Amex Delta 05/2008: $2000 ($20 balance)

Dover Saddlery (National City) 06/2008: $1000 ($0 balance)

BoA 99/500 04/2008: ($5 balance)

Should I now begin to close my subprime cards?

Orchard: $400 ($0 balance) AF $35 due in July. I will call to see if they will waive it.

Pearl 1: $500 ($167 balance) I will PIF as soon as this posts to my account AF $49. Just posted a couple of months ago.

Pearl 2: $400 ($0 balance) I cannot remember if I have an AF….

My other cards:

Paypal buyer credit $400 ($125 balance)

EDS CU: $500 ($252.75 balance)  I know the uti on this isn't great, but I paid off the higher APR cards first.

Sam's Club: $500 ($0 balance)

Dillard's: $150 ($82 balance. Can't pay until it posts)

The new card will cover the UTI of the ones I want to close.  Do you think it's a good idea to start closing them?

I think you have the idea. Whenever the AF is due, call and tell them you won't close the card if they waive it, else you'll close.

Re: NOW should I close my subprime cards?

I'll do that.  I called OB last month and they begged me not to close until the credit department had a chance to look at my account.  I called the backdoor number, but the guy was pretty useless....
They told me they could lower my APR and that would be a better deal.  I'm like, not if I PIF every month! Smiley Very Happy
