Re: NRA Credit cards

Merely curious, but for those who had/have the former NRA CC, did FNBO reissue or replace existing CCs with new plain-Jane plastics? Was the rewards structure reverted to just a basic tier?

When FNBO ended its relationship with the Savingstar program a while back, new CC replacements were sent and the rewards program went the way of the Dodo Bird.

Maybe they couldn’t afford what the bank was charging them? Or maybe people just weren’t signing up for the card because aside from “pride”, what benefit does the card offer? “Pride” or transpacific business class tickets with a Chase Sapphire Preffered? Or maybe the feedback the bank was getting from non-supporters was worth more $$$ from them that the $$$ they were getting from cardholders.

Several different possibilities, and perhaps some truth to all of them. NRA does still give out bumper stickers, no?

When Delta ended their discount program, they disclosed publicly that they had sold a grand total of 15 tickets.

Money talks in the credit card world.

FNBO reportedly did not renew the agreement to provide the NRA-branded card in response to pressure from a number of their customers.

The agreement with Delta was not a general discount program, the promotion offered discounts for members that were buying tickets to attend the annual meeting.   The annual meeting this year was in Dallas; most frequent fliers already know that DFW is AA's biggest hub and for which they are responsible for an 80%+ share of the airport's traffic, but DFW isn't even a focus city for Delta and IIRC they have 1 gate at Love Field.   Regardless of the political climate this wasn't going to drive many ticket sales.

Re: NRA Credit cards

My NRA card hasn't changed into anything else yet. I was wondering when something was gonna happen with it.....

Re: NRA Credit cards

I've had to remove political posts from this thread despite the request to leave politics out of the discussion; PMs have been sent where appropriate.  The NRA credit card has been been well-covered in previous threads, and anything regarding the credit product that could be discussed already has been.

Any further discussion/speculation on FNBO's decision to discontinue their relationship with the NRA is beyond the purpose of myFICO and is better suited for other forums.

As the topic has run its course the thread is now closed to new messages.
