Nasa FCU options and Affinity FCU?

1) I've opened an account with Nasa. Not sure if I should apply for one of the CC, or for a LOC. I have about 10K in a 401 that could be used as collateral for LOC, but that's about it for assets. Goal is to get about that amount to pay off 8 of 11 cards, then close all of those, pay down the other three, and have just 3 cards in a year. I'm just drowning in TOO MANY PAYMENTS.

I'm not asking about the wisdom of closing the cards - I know that one and am willing to take a short-term hit for long term peace of mind. I just need some input on Nasa products, likelihood of approval, etc. My EQ or EX (can't remember which) was about 660 two months ago.

2) Just saw mention here of Affinity FCU. Looked at their website - rates are great - but don't see a simple answer to "who qualifies" for membership - just a loooong list of organizations... Anyone have info on these folks that would assist me in either including or eliminating them?

Any one can become a member of affinity. They have some of the charitable causes and if you donate $15 or so to one of the causes they support, they will give you membership immeadietly. If you have a branch near by stop and ask them or call them over the phone and talk to them. I really like Affinity products and they are very competetive. I have account with them for about a year or so. I made a donation to become the member. It is worth contributing to a good cause any way.

I have Affinity FCU and usually someone has to work for an organiztion that is affliliated with them.  I know that AT & T and in NJ Saint Clares Health system (Denville and Dover Hospital).  I do not know about the charity thing but here is there number and maybe they can help you out 800-325-0808. 

I love this CU has always been good to me when I needed help.
