Navy Federal More Rewards Amex Help

So I am fairly new to NFCU and Amex right now, I just got the Amex Plat last week and NFCU nrewards secured almost 2 months ago.  I was looking to get a supplemental card for the Amex Rewards points that i could use on every day purchases that would get some multipliers and was looking at the Amex Everyday Preferred since it gets 3x on grocery and 2x on gas and a 15k SUB after spending $2k in 6 months on it.

My question here is, I was looking at the NFCU portal and saw the More Rewards Amex card with no annual fee and 3x on dining and food delivery, 3x on supermarkets, 3x on gas and transit and 1x on everything else and a $30k SUB after spending $3k in 90 days.  Does this card get Amex rewards points? Or are the NFCU points transferrable to Amex point system?

Or does anyone else have any recommendations on a supplemental card for everyday use to get rewards points?

The NFCU Amex is run through the AMEX system, but issued through NFCU, not AMEX.

Also, that SUB --- what?! 😳

Re: Navy Federal More Rewards Amex Help

If you want to earn AMEX Membership Rewards aka "MR" points your card needs to have been issued by American Express although if you have a Rakuten account you can configure it to pay out (only the) Rakuten reward as MR and pool them into your AMEX account even if you don't use an MR-earning card for the purchase.   Cards from other issuers like NFCU that only use the American Express payment network can generate rewards into that own issuer's ecosystem but not MR and you can't convert points earned from a More Rewards card into AMEX MR.

You'll earn cash back, not AMEX MR points with the NFCU More Rewards card. Also, I think you looked at the wrong intro bonus offer unless you have something non public...the current offer is a lower APR on balance transfers. That said, the More Rewards card is a great card.

Re: Navy Federal More Rewards Amex Help

Oh, and a typical SUB for this card is something like 30k POINTS (not dollars) with $3k spend in 90 days.  Points are $0.01 per point so 30k points = $300.

okay that makes more sense, it seems like it would be more worth it than to get the Amex Everyday if i am just trying to get points in the amex portal

If your goal is AMEX MR points, then the NFCU card won't do you any good.
