Re: Need help with next step after a Secured Credit Card

Well the easiest. With no FTF. Is quicksilver. From capital one. I have that one. And it's cash back. 1.5% on every purchase. No way to know what kind of line you will get. Because you don't have cards. I will like to think minimum 2k. Scores indicate higher. But they will be Leary until you have proven record. So I don't know. It will not take long to get high dollar cards

Re: Need help with next step after a Secured Credit Card

Thanks for your message. I was previously looking at the Quicksilver card but after giving Capital One a call and asking them about my chances for the card, they didn't seem optimistic, not even supportive. I was surprised since I'm currently a Cap 1 secured card customer in good standing and they only mentioned maybe my secured card will be upgraded to a Quicksilver down the road... (which after doing some reading in the forum has not happened to anyone ever). FTF is would be great to have, but if there is another card with better rewards/cash back that only works in the states then I would definitely reconsider. I was looking at the Barclay Arrival World Master Card (which might be out of reach at this point), Bank of America rewards card, Amex Blue and yes, still the Quicksilver card. My wife has a discover it card and really likes it, would it make sense to get the same card as well?

Re: Need help with next step after a Secured Credit Card

AMEX BCP was my first unsecured card.  It appears they are grooming people with thin credit files, a secured cc under a year old, and perfect payment history. I got discover it, they double pulled me, but at least it got it.  My credit history was pretty bare and the score has taken a beating, so now Im in the garden. From what I've read  so far it sounds like Chase likes a little thiker files.
