@Ron1 wrote:IN my own opinion, Costco True Earning Amex is better than Blue Cash. It is because Costco Amex doesn't have tier rate like Blue Cash and it gives you 3% dining, Gas and 2% travel and 1% on other purchases. You can redeem rewards check for cash/ credit towards the Costco purchases. You need to be a Costco Member to have the card. I heard it is tough to get. I don't like Blue Amex because it has tier rate. You have to spent a lot for 5% cash back tier (over $6500). It doesn't give you cash back like Costco Amex and they only gives you statement credit.

I don't have a Blue Cash, but I do have the TrueEarnings. I like that the cashback categories are straightforward, and without tiers. Although, there is a cap on the 3% back on gas (1% for gasoline purchases that exceed $3,000 in annual purchases). You get a running tally of what you're earning back, and from which categories on each statement, and you get a check in February of every year. As long as you don't pay Amex the 15+% interest, it's a darned good deal.

For me... I would be running ALL my expenses through this new card and would be spending at least $20k+ per year.
As far as statement credits... I am perfectly fine with that as that is 1 less payment I would have to put towards my credit card bill.
Since I PIF all my accounts, interest is no issue for me. I think I have only paid about $10 in interest across all my cards for the 2010 year So I think I will wait until January and then apply for the Amex Blue Cash
One final thought...
When I apply for the Amex Blue Cash in January, should I do it on the computer or should I do it over the phone... I really don't want to waste and inquiry to get denied. Thanks!

Bump! Any thoughts on this right here?!
the results will be the same whether you do it online or on the computer
I applied all mine on the web except Costco Amex. You don't fill out anything when you have Amex. It will give you short form. It should be easy.

I applied last week over the internet and was instantly approved, just received my card today. Looks fancy(ish).

Congrats! I probably am going to apply on Sunday or Monday so I can at least get the backdating! What kind of limit have you received? I am hoping I can get at least $5,000 so that I can use this as my primary. Currently using my USAA Mastercard with $9,000 limit. Overall utilization is less than 1%
My limit is $7,500.
Decided to pull the trigger with the Blue Cash and got... "Your application can not be approved with our 60 second decision..."
Current status of the application is "In Progress." I get off of work in 2 hours or so and was thinking about calling them then. Should I call them or should I wait to see the decision?! I really am hoping to get this card and make it my primary card to run all my bills/expenses through! Also hoping I would get like a $5,000 limit but I don't think they are going to be that generous
