Re: Need some personalized advice please

Must have been a glitch on the matrix.

If you haven't done so already, sign up for:
Wallethub.com free daily TU report
CreditKarma.com free weekly TU and EQ report

The above are VantageScore so don't pay attention to the score but it's very useful for the reports.

Re: Need some personalized advice please

Oh I’ll have to do WalletHub. I already have credit karma but vantage score is so inaccurate. I wish that weren’t so because I’d be at about a 700 credit score.

Re: Need some personalized advice please

Do you all just use the free scores or myFICO as well? I'm paying $40/monthly for my fico.

Stop paying for scores.  If you're going to pay then do it through Experian where you can do trials for $1 for all 3 scores.

We use the free ones to monitor actvitiy but, most of us have free scores through cards we have.  Discover offers free EX scores through scorecard and TU scores through card membership.  Amex offers Experian through membership. Citi offers Equifax through card membership.

Creditchecktotal.com aka Experian.com

I've been paying $0.00 so far for 3 Bureau Fico Scores plus added versions. Daily Experian updates and monthly 3B scores.

Make yourself an Experian account. Pay the $1. Cancel. Then, they will offer free trial Experian IdentityWorks℠ Premium for 30 days. Cancel before 30 day. Then, they will offer free trial again. Rinse and Repeat.

Re: Need some personalized advice please

Got it. Signed up for the free month trial at Experian and will cancel my fico. On a different note. What is the difference between FP and CP? One of the goodwill emails I had resulted in them changing my CO's to FP (Failure to pay). Doesn't appear to be a score change

Re: Need some personalized advice please

So my Experian credit states the following positives;

“You have an established credit history”
“You’ve shown recent use of credit cards and/or open ended accounts”

And 4 negative remarks;
“You have a serious delinquency or derogatory indicator, public record and/or collection on your credit report”
“The remaining balance on your mortgage or non-mortgage installment loans is too high”
“You have one or more accounts showing missed payments or derogatory indicators”
“You have few accounts that are in good standing”

That last remark leads me to a question. My discover card reports on Saturday and all indicators show I should get a decent boost based on my UTR. Only $17.63 and AZEO. Looking like I’ll be around 645 or so. With a negative remark being that I have too few accounts in good standing would it behoove me to add another revolving card? I only have 1 with the other 2 being AU’s with no balance.

If I do get another card where would you recommend I look? I am not interested in credit one or open sky. I’m not even sure I’d want a capital one card. Any other options that might bear fruit? On a side not I applied last week for an Amex Gold Business and was approved. I was shocked. But that won’t report to my personal trade lines. I tried applying for the Apple Card multiple times and that’s a denial, but I only applied because it’s a soft pull and they don’t hard pull until you accept the offer. Ideas?

Positive reason codes while nice to read, is meaningless.

Negative reason codes you should pay attention to. The severity is listed in sequential order. Number 4 is not as impactful as 1-3.

As you've seen, not getting any offers with Apple tells you what a your lender thinks of your profile. You can test other prequal sites such as Capital One, CITI, Amex. I think personal Amex has an Experian FICO 8 minimum 670 requirement. If you're not getting any offers, it's a sign to your let the derogatories age and not apply.

Just to recap, all you collections and charge offs have been paid? No derogatory updating monthly?

You should see where you stand once your scores update with AZEO.

Re: Need some personalized advice please

Hi OP. I think if you can get another personal credit card (whether is secured or not), it will help. Unfortunately, you’re not in a position to be picky, so if you don’t want to go for a predatory lender (don’t blame you), your options are limited. Why are you so against Capital One? Their cards may be nothing special, but it’s another foot in the door, until you can get the cards you want.

*Edit - I didn’t read thoroughly before, and understand now why you’re avoiding C1.

Re: Need some personalized advice please

That is correct. I have absolutely $0 unpaid debt, or collections. Only 1 collection on report after 10 months of work but it says paid and $0 balance. Only a matter of time until one of my disputes knocks it off...
