New Member Here - Questions?

Hey guys.

New Member, long time lurker.

I am currently a student finishing my undergrad, double major in Accounting and Personal Financial Planning. I have 2 semesters left!

I currently have:

Wells Fargo Student Card - $1600 CL, 13.49%

Citi Forward - $5000 CL, 13.49%

Chase (former WaMu) - $2800 CL, 24.24%

Discover More - $1580 CL, 17.9 %

Capital One - $1250 CL, 22.99%

With those, I am only revolving like $300

I also have about $20,000 in federal student loans, and a $12,500 auto loan through WF.

My questions:

How do you think I'm doing? I have an EX FACO of about 737, 4 inq's, average history of 3.1 years. NO baddies, NO lates.

I just got approved for AMEX Zync with Connect Pack. I have only charged about $50 on it. Check my spending tool starts declining me at about $10,500? Is that good? How is the best way to treat AMEX as far as FICO's and building relationship with AMEX? I wanna try to get Blue or Blue Cash sometime in the next year or so. Is it possible?

EDIT: Also within the last month I got CLI's from:

WF - $600

Citi - $1000

Discover - $500

Discover IT $35K | FNBO Visa $30K | Cash+ Visa Sig $19.5K | Southwest Premier $16K | Priceline $15K | Citi Forward $14.3K | US Bank Plat $14K | Commerce Bank $13K | CSP $13K | CSR $10K | Sallie Mae World MC $10K | Lowe’s Consumer 10K | BoA Cash Rewards 1-2-3 Sig $7.5K | Fidelity Visa $7K | Citi Double Cash $6.5K | WF Cash Back Visa $5.4K | Capital One Cash Rewards $5K | AMEX BCE $3.9K | Freedom $2.5K | Younkers/Comenity $2.4K | Kohl’s 1.5K | Target $1.4K | EX FICO (from AMEX): 768, TU FICO (from Discover): 797, AAoA: 4.4 years

charge as much as possible to amex over the next 6 months and then apply for any card you want with them.

and being able to charge up to 10k on amex is fantastic especially for new account!!!!

Re: New Member Here - Questions?

...but whatever you charge, with anyone, only charge the amount that you can immediately pay off. That prevents all sorts of disaster.

May I ask, what's the $300 that you're revolving? Many people think (incorrectly) that revolving balances help their FICO scores and/or their credit. You'll do a lot better to PIF every month, unless you have some sort of killer 0% deal going. No point in paying anyone interest if you can avoid it!

Otherwise, you look like you're in great shape. Keep using everything and paying them off. AmEx will love you, especially once you graduate with those majors. Smiley Wink
