New Wells Fargo Premier Autograph Card

This week I received an invite for the Premier Autograph card with a 100,000 point SUB for spending $4k in three months.  It is basically the same card as the Autograph Journey except that it is a Visa Infinite card with richer fringe benefits compared to the standard Autograph Journey card that is Visa Signature.  As I understand, the card is reserved for Premier banking clients.

I care less about the SUB than muddying my credit report with a new hard inquiry and an identical card in most respects compared to the Autograph Journey which I already have.

i called and asked whether I could convert my current Autograph Journey account to the Premier Autograph, as I did a Wells Fargo product change with a different card  in the past. (Three years ago I product changed a twenty year old Wells Fargo visa with no benefits to an Active cash card and was able to retain the 12.9 percent interest rate from the old account.)

I was annoyed when Wells told me that as a new product, product changes are not allowed to the Premier Autograph card, and that I would need to apply separately for a Premier Autograph card rather than product change the Autograph Journey.  I would like the Visa Infinite fringe benefits but I don't need what is otherwise a duplicate Autograph Journey card.

What use is a  gardened profile if you don't muddy it to collect on it's value, real $$ in your checking account?  You can't deposit a profile.  Show me a greater than 1 year, no new apps, profile and I'll show you a profile that is refusing to accept cash.   Same with FICO scores and credit limits, you can't deposit them.

It seems like one of these statements should cancel the other out. As in, rules against PCs are usually fine and serve a purpose for a bank’s underwriting standards, but when they design and market a card specifically for their upper tier clients, and are then asked by one of those club to do as @NAVYCHOP requests, the only answer should be “Sure, we can take care of that for you right away.”

Re: New Wells Fargo Premier Autograph Card

I love that they say it's exclusively for Wells Fargo Premier Checking clients, when anyone that has $35 a month can open a Premier Checking account.

One difference between this and the Autograph Journey (other than the increased SUB) is that this appears to be a minimum $10k credit line, based on credit pulls and it being a Visa Infinite card. Don't waste a HP applying if you don't have a $10K line in your wallet already or significant holdings with Wells Fargo.

Re: New Wells Fargo Premier Autograph Card

I think many of us have heard stories that Wells is ultra conservative with their credit lines.  It appears the Premier Autograph is the real deal for their premier clients.  Last year they gave me a $15k credit line for the Autograph Journey.  Today when they approved the Premier Autograph, the notice I received said I was granted a $50k credit line on the card.

When I previously called in to clarify a credit freeze, they told me there was a specific office in underwriting that deals with the Premier Autograph cards.  I am glad I took the plunge and allowed a hard pull for an excellent card and their 100,000 point sub for spending $4k in three months.  If they had allowed a product change as I originally requested, I would not have had anywhere near the credit line that I have now received with the premier card.

Re: New Wells Fargo Premier Autograph Card

100k point SUB ~$1000 seems worth it. You can always shift most of the credit limit over and close the old one.

$95 AF and $35 per month or transfer in $250,000.  Starts becoming un-worth it IMHO.
