Re: No more CLIs from Cap One EO

Got a $2,500 CLI just last week and one of the times I was speaking with them, I got PC'd to Quicksilver. Call again, as it is my understanding they have a pretty big EO department because they handle so many CLI requests.  Good luck!!

Re: No more CLIs from Cap One EO

you can't cold call the EO.

So you MUST email to get a response.

Aside from that bit of advice, I kind of laugh when I see these Crapital One posts now.

Praise Jebus I closed that account. That Crapital One account I had for longer than 7 years caused me so much stress. lol

Re: No more CLIs from Cap One EO

I went thru the EO and got a manual review for a CLI today. Fingers crossed.

And for the record, those who think this is the only way to advance is wrong. Cap! has been shockingly generous with online CLI's, albeit it must be between 6 months.. AND they are all soft pull.

I agree. Lately the SP CLIs online have been fantastic for most people. Smiley Wink

Re: No more CLIs from Cap One EO

And just for the record, I cold called them. They asked me how I got the number to which I said I talked to someone there in the past. Which is true.

It seems to be changing though. When I called in the past, it went to a secretary and I asked for the guy who helped me. I asked if he had an extension and they said no, all calls go through her.

Well, today it said "if you know your party's extension, please enter it now" and then directly dialed to an agent... And the call was "executive solutions' office... So just a piece of knowledge for you guys..

I'm not sure what the hate is about, either.  They granted me a 3x CLI *with* a two day late payment on my card with them in the six months prior to CLI request.  Of course, that didn't generate a late on my CR, but I think they initially declined it (I got a denial document on my documents in my online account) on that basis, but then granted it upon manual review (that I did not initiate) because my limit surely enough increased 3x after the denial letter was generated.

I think CapOne is willing to grant unsecured credit where many other creditors will not, and thus take a more cautioned approach to CLI requests, etc.  because they have a higher number of cardholders that are less than average.

I believe several of us requestors of credit have a sense of entitlement when it comes to credit, as if somehow we are entitled to someone else lending us their money, or entitled to the lender modifying the terms under which we borrowed that money (or adjusting the lattitude allowed for potentially borrowing their money).  Now, I'm not saying anyone in this thread has such a sense, or that this sense of entitlement isn't just a product of a greater western sense of entitlement, but I think it's definitely there, and has influenced society's general attitude towards credit.

While I would be disappointed if not granted a CLI or card application, I still realize that the granting of any credit comes with some risk, and the lender apparently feels that the risk of lending me more or lending me money at all is too great for them to bear.  Of course, if you want to argue that some creditors rely too much on their computerized models, and don't put much stock at all in manual reviews...I think that would be an honest, legitimate critiscism.
