Now what?

Waiting for my Discover More card to come in, leaving me with a jolt of confidence.  My Equifax just jumped again from 735 to 745, and I was thinking about the Best Buy store card or Chase Freedom MasterCard (so I can officially sockdrawer crap Citi).

How long should I wait?  My TU is VERY high on inquiries (5 in last 6, 12 in last 12), but my Equifax is pretty decent, 3 in last 6, 7 in last 12.  I was thinking I should go BB Store first (always EQ), then wait on Chase.  The only things that worry me about chase are:

1.  Excessive inquiries if they pull TU (they've pulled TU for me previously)

2.  They seem like the type that would be bothered by my larger student loan balances.

Any advice?  Also, Orchard still thinks I qualify for "Secured MasterCard", leaving me doubtful about my hopes of getting a Plan A Store card, despite my FICO scores.

Thanks

Re: Now what?

If they (chase) have pulled TU for you earlier, they may pull TU again. Also remember that if they decline you, you cannot apply with them for 6 months.

I would wait for sometime for a few inquireis to age. 5 Inquiries in 6 months including 1 really recent may be a possible decline.

For orchard bank, IMHO their system is crapy, I got an amex and chase and US Bank approved (had no inquiries in abt 8-9 months) and just for fun I tried to look at orchard pre-approval and it offered me a secured. I dont think that means anything.

Some great advice there!  I'm surprised Discover (who pulled TU), approved me with so many inquiries!  I realize the 6 month rule with them, so I will wait until TU has 0 in the last 6 months (June).

I always check the OB for fun (and it counts toward B* for Equifax), but I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets ridiculous results.  (Obviously an instant approval with Discover should mean I don't need a secured card, haha).  I just worry since Orchard is HSBC, that has bad ramifications for what may happen with the BB store card.  (DO NOT want the crappy MasterCard).

They exclusively pull EQ, so I'm hoping there's a chance of approval there (Since that's my lightest on inquiries).

(Last year when they still issued Chase and HSBC store cards, and I applied, got considered/denied for both and got HSBC/BstBuy on EQ, First USA NA on TU, but I had NO history at that time).

Re: Now what?

Man, still don't udnerstand why you have such animosity towards Citi, but I guess it does suck now since you product changed it from Forward to Thank you lol.

Re: Now what?

Problem is I didn't like going to upscale places and using that card.  And the ThankYou rewards still suck, regardless of anything else.

I'm just wondering if a Chase Freedom MasterCard is needed against my BoA Cash Rewards Visa and Discover More.  Really want the BB store card, but I'm afraid of Plan B/MC offer, or AA for not using it enough.

Re: Now what?

I got plan A in December, with an $1,800 limit.  Scores all around 695 to 700.  Pulled EQ.  Lots of new accounts.  Applied in store with a $400 purchase.

Go for it!

Re: Now what?

Program B with a $600 limit :/

Better than nothing, at least I have 1 store card, though I may try an HSBC recon number when I get out of work at 6.

Re: Now what?

Gonna take it a step further, I'm going to ask that they don't open the account because I don't agree to the terms.

Re: Now what?

Cancelled the card.  Hopefully it won't report as an account.
