I would lean towards this explanation. Not sure how much actual statistical data a customer rep would even have access to.
Does anybody know what caused the glitch? Act of nature or negligence on their part? I just received a preapproval from them and a 3rd card would be useful for rebuilding.
They have only said it was a "technical error with their vendor." I asked a CSR if they were hacked by an outside threat, the answer they gave was no, but I'm not so sure. They have also had billing issues since this happened. Even before this incident, last year they took my $4,200 CL and reduced it to $300 AFTER I paid off the card. After complaining to the CFPB they reversed the CLD and my CL has stayed the same ever since. I use this card sparingly and PIF every month. I get for those re-building, this may be a good option, and I do like that they have scores available on the website and app to keep track of progress, but if the last year of their antics is any indication, I wouldn't count on this card to help you build credit. What they give one day, they may take away the next, destroying any progress and CLI's you've earned. I've had this card for about 3 1/2 years and for the first two years or so, when I was using the card more and carrying a balance, they gave slow but steady CLI's, but lately its seems that now that I'm moving into another credit tier, they are penalizing me and of course having troubling problems with credit reporting. Proceed with the utmost caution and watch them, and your credit in general, like a hawk.
