I got an Amex BCP in December last year. My wife got a SM a couple of months later. The BCP now seems kind of redundant. Sure it gives 6% on groceries, but paying $75/year for that extra 1% from SM doesn't seem worth it. I'm planning to PC it to BCE before the AF hits. But the problem with that is I'll hardly use my card again, since I'll have better rewards on other cards. I originally started with a CL of $4,300 and it's currently at $24,000, so there's no question of closing this account. Can you suggest me some good cards to PC it to, preferably without AF. I wouldn't mind AF cards as well if they turn out to be useful. Thanks.
Dunno what to tell you there. You're probably best off PCing to a BCE and using it mostly for Amex Offers. Also, if you don't have a card that provides primary rental car insurance, you can add an option to most any Amex issued card so that it will charge you a set fee per rental ($24.95 in most states, $17.95 for Californians) to cover up to 42 days of rental (up to 30 days for WA residents). If you rent a car once in a while to travel, that can also come in handy.
Your only really option is BCE if you want to keep the same tradeline open. I get that BCE is not terribly useful when you are using the SM, but the SM is tightly capped. Maybe a month will come along when you need to spend more on groceries, in which case you have a backup. If not , whatever. SD the BCE and use it for Amex offers occasionally.
Another option is the Old Blue Cash, but that's most useful if you spend a lot on groceries and gas and/or drug stores.
give it to me i'll take it ![]()
