why does anyone PIF more then once month , I understand paying multiable times a month if your payiging down a balance with every pay check, or making extra payment if your needing the aviliable credit .. but PIF, unless you need your entire credit line, PIF more than once a month I don't get it?

Some posters here have Blue Cash, but their CL's aren't particularly enormous yet. Since they're trying to get that initial $6500 out of the way, and then the big rewards, they charge everything on Blue Cash that can't run away fast enough, and periodically PIF throughout the month so that they can charge more than their current CL. I would assume that they also hope that by doing this, AmEx will give them a CLI.

Oops, I just realized that this is what you just said! Smiley Very Happy

I haven't been able to make a payment at all yet since my first statement hasn't even cut, but a couple of weeks ago I asked Amex CS if they allowed multiple payments.  The rep told me that you can't make a payment at all until the end of your first billing cycle, but after that you can pay online or by phone as often as once  if you want to.

You haven't found that to be the case, apparently.

This is correct info. Until your first statement cuts- which feels LIKE FOREVER- you can't pay mult. times online. Once it does however, you can pay as much as you like just not twice in a 24 hour period. Every 48 hours really- ( 24 hours for the payment to enter, and 24 for it to clear. Same w/ Discover- except if you pay by 5pm it can possibly post the same day-on some Chase cards- it it three day increments)

Why pay multipe times some ask?- As others have said if you are moving money through the card but only want a ceratin percentage to post then multiple payments will work for you.

Re: PIF Several Times/month With Amex?

I am not alone in this multiple payments to AMEX a month-

Another reason- is the added warranty coverage- the kids are getting some pretty nice "toys" I want the added warranty.

Last month I ran over $3500 though my 1K CL and statement posted with a $13 balance.

CLI time AMEX-

Re: PIF Several Times/month With Amex?

EXACTLY what I have going on...

Since they changed the rules with the CLI to 6 months rather than 30 days...
I will play the game of making payments a few times a month to keep my available
credit higher on the Blue Cash. I am working the points, so I charge pretty much everything, fuel, business items, groceries, auto insurance, phone bill, Direct TV.
all of the above ! 5K only gets you so far with all those goodies !

One thing for all of us to keep in mind- those of thus that do make the multiple payments- if the situation arrives where we only pay a little over min. or just once a month- I have no problem what-so-ever calling them and letting them now so I don't get hit w/ a F/R. If a phone call can prevent it- I am soooooo cool w/ that.

So basically Ill have to wait another month until I can pif daily I take it. But I did already have a statement cut with a balance on it you would think that would count.

After your first statement cuts-

They will allow a payment (if you have a posted balance) every 48 hours.
