Re: PISSED AT MACYS

Wow.  So 20% overall utility isn't so bad.  Well, the mystery continues - wonder what's going on with them.

Creditaddict's advice to call them after you've paid it off and hopefully get your previous CL, seems like the best option to me.  One of the pluses of Macy's Visa is they do get pretty high credit limits.  Maybe this is one card that really doesn't like balances at all.  I haven't carried a balance on Macy's yet, but I also put a lot of purchases through my store card.

I do think like you, by the way, and am not eager to keep any cards open that are not serving me well.  What other cards do you have that are open?  Which ones are you thinking of closing?

Good luck with your mortgage - I wish you the very best.

Re: PISSED AT MACYS

I have 3 from hsbc, their discover, bestbuy mastercard, and a hsbc mastercard all have 300.00 limits and are over a year old. They will be on the chopping block soon, also on the block is target store card, These cards are not going too grow with me and im tired of trying to manage the lousy utility on them and using themjust to keep them open. i cant even buy gas and stay under the 30% .  Others that i am definately keeping are my nfcu(10,000) limit, cap 1 (4000), b&n(1000) and my alliant(3000). ihave a bunch of store cards that i actually use so i wont be closing any of them. I will try paying off the balance on the Macy store card and see if they will give me back my original limit, if not,  they can put a fork in it because im done.   thanks for ur support beam me, itruely appreciate it

Re: PISSED AT MACYS

I applied for a regular discover card and was declined, if i only knew then what i know now, i would have turned down this piece of junk.(no offense to anyone who has this card and loves it) it simply serves no use and they dont give clis and i was told this card isnt ever going to be eligible for one.

Yes. Applications for a DFS Discover card that do not meet their underwriting standards can, on occassion, be diverted and approved for an HSBC (generally Direct Merchants Bank) Discover co-branded card. It is a pale substitute for the real thing.

It looks like you've ID'd ten cards plus "a bunch of store cards" - so another potential issue to creditors is your number of cards.  Evidently, a few recent posters have experienced closure or steep CLD' due to their number of cards.  If I'm remembering, valenjimmo had closures with six existing bank cards; some experts recommend no more than 10 open accounts - the reasoning being that if you don't choose which cards are most important to keep open and running smoothly, someone else will decide on their own ;(.

Hope everything runs perfectly moving forward with your Macy's - and your other accounts as well.  Best of luck with that mortgage!

Be careful about closing accounts. Know exactly what you are doing and why before you throw away perfectly good accounts. Generally, if it doesn't have an AF don't close it.

Re: PISSED AT MACYS

All of the hsbc cards have annual fees, and since the limits are so low-300.00, the fees are more than 10% of the value on the cards, i truely dont think its worth it anymore. Target just basically gets on my nerves and i just want to be rid of it. Have u ever had something that u didnt like, but just couldnt put ur finger on exactly  what it is about it that u dont like? thats how i feel about the target card.Smiley Very Happy
