Yea I opened one of their HY Savings for out of footprinters only at the end of 2018 and snaged a Cash Rewards card 5 months later. Didnt know anything about a waiting period tho.... Good bank and sp CLIs to boot (so far)... Im in South Texas
Anyone know if this trick works with other geo-locked lenders?

Good Question, The only geo-locked approval I have had success with is BMO Harris.
Pretty tough, unless you take Vacations and apply in branch.

If opening savings/checking yes will work with some.. The easiest though is visit banks on vacation visit branch open card = win if you want in with a geo locked location otherwise a few checking/savings account places such as bmo harris, etc exists but not a ton

And I assume even that works better with banks than geo-locked CUs. If the membership requirement includes living/working/worshipping in Little-Puddlington-in-the-Marsh, dropping in to their branch (open third Thursdays in June and July, 1-2pm) probably won't be enough
