PRE-SCREENED OFFERS in MAIL after trying PREQUALIFICATION on Websites

So I had tried the CHASE pre-qualification and was given no offers since

1)I got a CHASE freedom 6 months ago and

2)my new accounts and INQ's  hadn't aged from my 3 card app spree (only 6months now)

All instant prequalification sites offer me nothing but secured or pre-loaded debit cards no matter the bank now. I know due to my appspree but this week after doing a CHASE PREQUAL last week a prequalification a offer came in the mail. SLATE locked in 12.99 APR offer with 0% for a while. So I think the prequal site even though denied caused a internal CHASE offer to come my way.

Re: PRE-SCREENED OFFERS in MAIL after trying PREQUALIFICATION on Websites

Thanks for this post. Just the opposite for me. It's been awhile since i checked the Prequal Site myself so i fill it in and now, Crap!!! After 6 months of having Freedom too, now it shows BOTH Slate & CSP!

Someone might wonder why i'm expressing disappointment. It's because i been laying low waiting it out for Sallie Mae in March. If i add another TL i'll be in for another battle with Barclays interrogator team again and have to explain "why i opened so many recent accounts" all over again. Last approval was just in Dec for Ebates. Crap!!Smiley Indifferent

See how everything always works out?

Re: PRE-SCREENED OFFERS in MAIL after trying PREQUALIFICATION on Websites

Chase and BoA are the only ones who give me pre-quals

BoA has (seemingly) permanently pre-qual'd me for all of their cards via my online account (i get a notification every time i log in) and they all have horrendous 22% APRs

Just got the marriott and ritz cards (marriott in sept, ritz in dec) and i'm pre-qual'd for freedom and CSP atm.

Everyone else hates me.

If you went for the Ebates that recently, I'd push your SM App to June.

If it was just the one card added, I wouldnt worry about it much. I am not good at remembering posts, but if you recently did some sort of app spree before that, I would also wait 6 months before you tried barclays again.

Re: PRE-SCREENED OFFERS in MAIL after trying PREQUALIFICATION on Websites

Just for the heck of it, I tried the Amex prequalified site every week to two weeks.  Always came back with nothing.  Tried it again on 12/30 - still nothing. Decided to drapp for ED, despite the prequalified results. Instant approval for $11.3K.  Just because you don't get an offer doesn't mean you won't be approved for a card.

Oh I agree that is how I got in with Amex...  Still makes you feel more fuzzy knowing you are on their radar and they are softing you, least for me.

They had been SPing me for quite sometime - just never sent any offers.Smiley Indifferent My guess is enough time had passed between my BK and bad record with them that I had earned a second chance.  My record is unblemished for almost eight years, and I have been a heavy credit user for the last 2 years.
