I recently paid off one CC and would like to use the 2.9% BT promotion to pay off my Navcheck. How is that done? Do I have to send a BT check? Use my checking account as the account?
I don't want to end up with a cash advance...
Is this even possible?
I did it through PSECU app. They are holding the money and will issue the check sometime this week. Yay!!! Going from 15.65% to 2.9%. #winning
I attempted this months back. It's not possible unless you can write the check to yourself and deposit in your NFCU checking account. The Navcheck is connected to your checking account and doesn't have its own account number. FYI...You need to call PSECU immediately and confirm they allow the BT offer to be written to you and not to a creditor. If not they will do the transfer and consider it a cash advance as other banks have done.
UGH....They don't allow me to write the check to myself. I guess I will see what happens. I used the information - account number and mailing address from my payment stub on the account statement. Either way it will be lower interest than the NavCheck. 9.9 cash advance vs. 15%, I'll take it. Maybe transfer it back to my Navy Platinum after it gets low enough....or I get a miracle CLI at 91/3?
So @tussking was partially correct so far. I used my checking account number as the account number for the BT and PSECU deposited $13500 into my checking account which I promptly used to pay the NavCheck. I just got my PSECU statement today and checked the interest section and the $13500 isn't showing AT ALL. Not as a cash advance or BT or promotional BT....it isn't listed AT ALL. So, I guess I will have to wait until next statement to see where it actually ends up. Right now, I've been charged zero interest for the BT and it should either be 9.9% for cash advance/regular BT or 2.9% for promotional BT. I am obviously hoping for the latter. I will update again when I get my next statement.
@tussking I finally got my updated statement a few weeks back. It worked!! I transferred my NavCheck balance to PSECU at 2.9% through 12/31/2021! I am happy to go from 15.65% to 2.9% Yay!!

Well that is a nice rate reduction on paying interest, Congratulations!
Thanks @M_Smart007 and @AllZero. I'm stoked!!
