Re: Paypal Extras MC CLD

Sorry for my snark. Wasn’t meant to come off the way it did when I just read my reply :-/

My previous PayPal was backed by Synchrony, not Commenity. It was the Smart Connect..

Sorry for lack of info. Didn’t mean to light any fires. Was just listing my frustration with Synch..

Thanks for helping me clarify

Called CS, and yes, said they had mailed me a letter. phh.

Anyhow, limit reinstated after providing current income, and a SP (CR's frozen)

At the end of the day, of they didnt reinstate I was going to close it. I dont use the card, (thier points system is trash) and I'm not Sync fan anyway. Pissed they mishandled the "upgrade" last year on the paypal credit to Mastercard "product change".

On a second thought, I should probably use my Discount Tire card, they may do the same on that, huh?

Only use it (Discount Tire) if you really need do to keep it alive.    Unless you are early in rebuilding (which from your sig you are clearly not) you don't really need to keep cards that you have to remember to use!

How did Synchrony mishandle an upgrade. Any time one upgrades a Synchrony account to a Mastercard, it becomes a new account and closes out the old one. Curious. Thanks.

"Any time one upgrades a Synchrony account to a Mastercard" You assume that everyone knows/knew that's how they do it.

They mishandled it by misinforming me REPEATEDLY before I accepted the "upgrade".  I called in and asked 3 times and was told everytime that it would just be a product change, no new account, no changes to CR. I have it documented, well. And now I know that is how Synchrony does upgrades.

And this is a good reason why Forums like this one are important.  Although CSRs may describe something as an "upgrade", they may not necessarily be aware of the full impact of their practices.   I'm sure in Sync's eyes, you have the "same account" but that doesn't mean that they will not issue a new card with a new opening date.

I had a somewhat similar situation with my Care Credit MC upgrade offer.   I ultimately took it, but I waited until after I apped for Chase Freedom, as I was barely within 5/24 as it was, and I didn't want to lose out over a Care Credit card.   It turned out to be a good decision to wait.

I understand, Synchrony can be one fickle beast. If i came off harsh in anyway i too apologize. One thing ive learned here on the forum with Sync is i will use them as a PIF cards because aside from interest, i want to always be prepared for any blue envelope.

Sometimes i think of closing one while it still has high limit before a cld so at least it looks better on my report. Not sure if thats true but id like to think thatSmiley Wink
