I'm trying to stay in the garden, but I was thinking that when I do decide to leave I would go for the new PenFed Power Cash Rewards for any non-category/travel spend since I qualify for the 2% cash back on it. (Hopefully they will have improved the flimsy card design by then.) I was just noticing that the Defender AmEx and VS are no longer listed in their list: https://www.penfed.org/view-all-credit-cards
I thought it was strange that they would be discontinued. However, when I did a Google search for the cards, I came across the product pages:

The date for the "Details and Disclosures" at the bottom shows a March 2017 date, so it's current. It looks like these are now flat 10.49% variable APR cards. Mine is at 13.49% (V) per my February statement (previously 13.24%). I'm using it for BTs now, but will certainly be using it for foreign currency cash advances the next time I'm traveling out of the country as there are no cash advance fees (nor a grace period, but I still find the ATM to be a generally economical and convenient way of getting foreign currency). Wondering if I should call to inquire about this. Anyone know how PenFed is with lowering APRs? Is there a HP involved? Their loan officers have always been great to speak with.
