Lets talk about Pre Approval Sites, How Successful they are?
Some say if it gives exact APR or a lower range APR then you are more likely to be approved.
This is only a partial list. I tried to pick the ones normal people can possibly get and I'm sure I am missing a few.
Please add your own
For me:
American Express never showed any on their site but I got great Pre Approvals in the mail that I was approved for.
Bank of America shows me pre approvals all the time but I can't speak on if it works or not since I haven't applied. Update... Can put any info in the site you want.
Barclay - I dont see the pre approval site anymore but some claim the emails they send out are definite signs of approval.
Capital One's approval site has been good to me and my wife but shows nothing pre approved as of late.
Chase never shows me any pre approvals.
CitiBank never throws me a bone with pre approvals or approvals.
Credit One - Never tried it. Any hopefully will never have to.
Discover's Pre approval site is crap.
Home Depot - If I lived closer to one.
US Bank only offers me a debit card lol
American Express - DD had pre-quals via the AMEX site (PRG and ED)...applied and was instantly approved
Bank of America - I signed into account to check balances, clicked checked for customized offers, checked the boxes for my interest, it recommended Travel Rewards card, applied and was denied for a previous paid collection with them (5 years old)
Capital One- Pre Quals received for Venture, Venture One, Prestige, and Visa Signature-app'd for Venture and Visa Siggy-both approved
Chase Pre Qualified Offers- DH had a recommendation via Credit Karma-he app'd and was denied for negative info on his CR. Ironically enough received a mailer 2 weeks later for Freedom and Chase, applied with the invitation codes for both- he was approved 6k (Freedom) and 4.9K (Slate)
Citibank- DD has a pending pre qual for Prestige but based on the reviews here I told her to let it go
Credit One- never tried
Discover- I received a "recommendation" for the IT, fell for it, and was denied-tried to recon (it was a no-go)
Home Depot- Recently received a mailer w/an invitation code (still considering it)
US Bank- I have 3 recommended cards (all with APR ranges) Platinum, Flex Perks and Ralphs ...Am not gonna try until I get my IDA/ARS frozen
Tried the Discover Site and it said I was prequalified for a DiscoverIT. I apped and got a message asking me to call in. They wanted me to have a co-signer on the account, otherwise it was a no-go. This is with a 698 EQ score (what they pulled).
For clarity so folks don't take BofA and Discover serious
On either one you can enter
Alaska Alabama Arkansas Arizona California Colorado Connecticut District of Columbia Delaware Florida Georgia Hawaii Iowa Idaho Illinois Indiana Kansas Kentucky Louisiana Massachusetts Maryland Maine Michigan Minnesota Missouri Mississippi Montana North Carolina North Dakota Nebraska New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico Nevada New York Ohio Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah Virginia Vermont Washington Wisconsin West Virginia Wyoming
if you make at least $500 in purchases in the first 90 days
@Jerry45 wrote:I was pre approved at Home Depot for a tasty 25.9% APR. Cannot wait to apply. Sarc...
I tried for Home Depot to see what it would say and they sent me an email. It had a 25.9% apr

Gonna pass.....
BOA is a Joke!! nobody can relay on that qualifications![]()
We've found the Capital One site to be accurate. Some of the others (like Chase and Amex) currently give us a "no" (which I'd expect) so I assume they're accurate as well. We haven't tried Credit One as I have no desire to do business with them.
