Pre-Approved WFNNB... CL?

In your experience what is your starting CL when you get pre-approved for these cards?

I'm helping a friend fix his credit and he was pre-approved for Spiegal (which he will have no use for) and Express... both accounts instantly approved but no CL mentioned on either.

oh believe me, when it comes to helping someone else i penny pinch those apps like crazy, I don't want him to have more than 3 inq on each report... and the goal is 1 good visa, one good amex, and a couple store cards!

On Spiegels, the usual preapproval is about $500. They are generous with CLIs (they raised me to $1100 3 months later)

Pottery Barn (also WFNNB) is also good. I started at $4k, about 4 months later (yesterday) I hit the CLI button and they raised me to $4800. I love Pottery Barn and they have a great bonus program....

My express card has $500 CL... that was in March and my scores were low 600's.

I have been preapproved for Spiegel at $500 but did not bite... Same for Newport News, but did not bite.   I didn't want anymore new accounts killing my score.

I have Victoria Secret card; I think it started with $500 limit and I have this card for a long time 5+ years now my CL is $1520.00 and these increases were auto CLI.  The good thing about this card you can use this card at Bath and Body.
