After being rejected 5 times in the last 5 months, I finally got a foot back in the door wtih Synchrony. When I started my credit re-building process 6 months ago, I was really naive about applying for credit and had I known at the time I was being rejected by the same bank for different cards, I might not have applied for so many and taken 5 HPs
Since I began my credit re-building journey I have gotten a secured US Bank card, and a few unsecured cards with Capital One, Merrick Bank, and some Comenity SCT cards and some I took a HP on. Now that I am in with Synchrony Bank, I am just going to patiently tend the garden!
I am rebuilding after a divorce and student loan default really harmed my credit. In fact I was on a GE credit account that went to the ex in the divorce about 8 years ago, which he never paid and since both of our names were on all of the credit cards and he didn't pay on any of the ones he was ordered to pay on, my credit was crushed. I also left him the house and he foreclosed on it. So, I have had a lot of repair to do!
I started my re-building journey about 6 months ago and have come a long way, reading the blogs here in the forum has been helpful.
Last week, I did get a pre-qualification letter from Walmart Synchrony bank, but after being reject for that card twice in the last 6 months and 3 other Synchrony cards I was very hesitant, though I really wanted to get my foot back in the door with them, since they are known for giving generous CLI's.
I decided to do my research and find out what credit scores others were getting approved with. In the last 6 months they pulled TU on me. So, I figured they would pull that one again if I accepted the offer. I checked all of my scores and my TU was 674, and I read that some people were approved for a little less than that as low as the 630s with TU, so I went ahead and took a chance at it. I was instantly approved! I had to call and find out my CL $1200, also they would not increase it, they said my credit history was too new. I also applied for the Amazon Prime Store Card, because I shop there frequently, was approved instantly for $1500, I was actually approved for the store card but they gave me an option to upgrade to the Amazon Prime Store Card with rewards and a $40 gift card bonus. I also applied for Paypal Extra's Mastercard, and was also approved instantly with a temporary CL of $250, I opened chat and the person I spoke to said he couldn't tell me what the permanent line is, and I will find out when I activate the card. I was unable to open chat with Amazon Prime Store Card, to request a CLI, so I will try it when I get the card in the mail.
I did get declined for Care Credit, and that is one that I really want. Mostly because they are accepted in most places and I have a 10 year old that will likely need braces in the future. I was decline for too short of a credit history. I am not upset, I will continue to patiently tend my garden and reapply in a couple years. I did get 3 out of 4 cards so I am happy and I am done applying for cards for a while.
Up until yesterday, I was going by the FAKO scores, and I was checking the Free Fico on Discover Scorecard, Experian, Fingerhut, and Merrick bank, but since I have gotten quite a few credit cards in the last few months, I am going to be patiently tending the garden for a while, I also decided to purchase the $29.99 monthly myfico plan yesterday, to stay on top of things, that is how I found out my TU was much higher than the free sites had said CK said my TU was 645.
When I called Synchrony to find out my CL I called a number for credit solutions that I got from one of the forum chats posted early last year, that number is no longer working. I did a google search and the number I called for credit solutions and was able to speak to someone today was 877-379-8175. It is for their business lines of credit, they had to transfer me to someone who takes care of personal lines of credit. I didn't wait more than 30 seconds in the transfer and the person I spoke to was nice.
Does anyone have their direct number for credit solutions personal lines of credit?
Thanks
