Product Change for Capital One

Hello all,

I've been doing some researching on PC.  Didn't know this was an option until I started reading on this site. For those of you who have PC with Captial One, did your account have an offer available or did you just contact them and ask?  I have a Platinum Visa with a AF but with an 4% APR.  I looking to trying to get something without the AF.  I tried to get them to drop it but they won't. Is it better to try it online over the chate feature or call?   Any information would be highly appreciated.

Re: Product Change for Capital One

I called them up and requested a PC of 2 platinum. They told me I could PC them to QS1s not QS. Was also told they couldn't get rid of my AF and gave me $2k CLI on each card after I requested it. I'll keep calling trying to get rid off the AF. Some people here have reported they've been successful in doing that after many calls and emails.

Good of luck and let us know how it goes.

The "Modify Features" option on the CapOne website has proven completely useless for me.

I had great success in PC'ing my Platinum to a QS1 via chat a little over a month ago. They waived the AF for the first year on it, as well. When my AF comes due next year, I'll be using it again to see if I might be able to PC to the no AF QS.

I would see if you can PC your Platinum to the QS1 - they will likely offer you the same fee waiver the first year, which will buy you a year to then try to PC to the regular QS. You might be able to PC to the QS directly (Nixon's had success doing this) but I didn't try since the QS1 is for average credit, and QS is fr excellent, and I wasn't there yet, but knew I'd have another year to get there.

The only thing I would do is ask and confirm during the chat that your APR will remain the same. That's going to be the variable here, and you want to make it clear to them that you want that APR to carry over to the new product, or no dice. That's a pretty sweet APR, so ask, ask and ask again. And keep the copy of the chat.

Good luck!

Re: Product Change for Capital One

Thanks everyone for your input.  So I was talking through chat and they told me that my account couldn't be  upgraded.  The account only had an $2k limit.  Not too long ago I requested a CLI and no luck.  I expained to the person that I wanted to stay with Captial One but just wanted a cards with some rewards.  I just said what hell,  I applied for the Quicksliver and got $10k CL.  So I'm going to going to use my link that I have because I'm military and have that card's rate brought down to 4%.  Didn't want a HP but oh well at least they were generous with CL so I'm happy.  Not I'm going to the garden to grow some vegitables for a while.  I'm satisfied with what I have.  Thanks everyone for your information and suggestions.

Re: Product Change for Capital One

tjhallow, sounds like a good idea.  I think I'm going to try and take my platinum and combine it with my qs.  I would rather have 2 cards instead of 3.
