Now that I have been approved for the Amex BCE, the only thing keeping me from a perfect wallet is a Mastercard. I'd like to add the Chase Freedom to my wallet so I can add a mastercard, and start accumulating UR points early. I'm not sure if I should pull the trigger and make a little app spree out of it or not though, so I need your help.
Here are my stats from my previous thread, updated to reflect my Amex.
My TU score according to Discover is 707.
I have the following cards:
First Financial Bank Platinum Visa (Dec 2012) - $1,500 limit - 0% UTIL
Discover It Student (Jun 2013) - $1,800 limit just SP increased to $2,100 but not reported - 13% UTIL
Citi Forward (Jun 2013) - $2,900 limit - 0% UTIL
Macy's Store Card (Dec 2013) - $1,000 limit - 0% UTIL
American Express Blue Cash Everyday (Feb 2014) - $3,000 limit [not reporting, have not received yet]
TOTAL CL: $7,200
TOTAL UTIL: 3%
AAOA: 9 months, according to CK
I have student loans, all federal, that total about $12,000, that are deferred.
The only INQ on my account besides the cards listed above is a Chase Freedom decline in July 2013. The Amex Inq was
INQs are as follows:
EQ - 2
EX - 6
TU - 3
I am a student with about $8,000 of income, with $4,000 of parental support and gifts.
I was declined for the Freedom back in July for not having sufficient credit history, but the woman in recon told me to apply again after I had a year of history. Do you think I have a good shot at approval, or should I wait? I like to app for a couple at the same time so the INQs can age together, but I don't want to burn one if I don't stand a chance.
Any advice is appreciated.

Chase has shifted to almost all Visas now including all the UR earning cards. Maybe a Barclay Arrival card?

Damn, that's unfortunate! I still want the Freedom, but I guess I can't use MC as an excuse for my card lust anymore haha.
If it were me I would wait until this summer after some of the new accounts have aged a bit. I also think you may get approved now but if you wait you'll have a much better change and probably get better terms too. Also, spacing out the inquires is always a good idea. You just never know what the future will hold.

I had forgotten about that...Yes, Chase loves Visa now.
I would expect you get approved given your current cards. Best of luck.
You have much better credit lines than I do. I have full access to my parents income, so I add that under Student as occupation. I applied for the Chase Freedom about 6 months ago and was denied, only had about 6 months of credit history then. Applied again for it last month (with the Chase Amazon Rewards) and was approved for the freedom instantly. Had to call in for the Chase Amazon, but was approved. I think you have a good chance at approval, if not instantly, recon will most likely push it through. I've found recoming to be a great help.
Also, congrats on your AMEX BCE, I was approved for it a week ago as well ![]()
