Q's about PP SC account......

hi folks,

Just apped for a Paypal extra mc and got approved for a smart connect instead for 300.

now, i donno what to do with it.

i'm in the rebuilding mode right now.  couple things i like to no....

do i get a plastic card with this account?

will this account help me improve my credit since this doesnt report to the bureaus. ( i'm being told)

can i get it to upgrade to the pp xtra mc?

 why do paypal force this upon us where we dont get to choose and decide which product we want to app for?

will they raise my limit at some point?

i've hearing for much bad experiences that people are having with this account, i'm kind a lil nervous bout having this account.

and lastly this is backed by GE retail something i forget and............

I just realized that i had burned GE ( i had a hbc mc that i IIB ) discharged 6/12.

So i was thinking that if i keep this account open, Would this be a way for me to getting back in good graces with GE?

i like to no...

i have 4 TL reporting, been clean since BK7 6/12, low 600's highest limit on card is 1500 cap1.

No plastic card - It is paper

It does report to all 3 bureaus

I believe you are first considered for the MC and if not approved then considered for the SmartConnect.Not sure on upgrade but I bet it is possible.

Yes you will get good CLI from GERB with only soft credit pulls.

I've had zero problems with my account.Payments post with 24 hours of payment in my paypal account.The complaints all over online are normally people that made a mistake in handling their account and are trying to blame it on something or somebody else.

Yes GERB has many retail accounts and even Discover & Visa products.Staying in their good graces it is well worth it.They will grow with you as your scores improve.

My DH is rebuilding and has a PayPal SC account. It's been working well for him.

No plastic card, just paper; but since he uses it just for PayPal purchases, he doesn't need a physical card. I do understand that you can get a PayPal debit card and link it to your SC account, so it can be used like a credit card outside of the PayPal online system.

And they've given him two CLIs in the last year, all auto with no HP. Finally, it does report to all three CRAs under his revolving accounts.

Congrats on your new account, use it well and it will help to grow your credit.

This is how my SC is set up. At the time, charges and payments took forever to clear. It may be better now, but I haven't used the line for a couple years now.

i read somewhere that ur initial limit would have 2 b at least 500...

i am not sure how to get 1

@bk510 this is a great way to get in GE good graces.. treat the account like gold. Its possible to get a nice limit from the acct. I know its YMMV but in my case i started with 300 then the 4th statement cut i called upped to 800 8th statement cut 1200 12th statment cut 2200 like clockwork. So congrats and remember its gotta start somewhere!

ohhh and to answer the like paper card. Yes its kind of a glossed/laminated little paper card.. not plastic like credit card. but you never need to show it to anyone, as you just use it through your paypal account online..

Paper or thick paper form. Its not a plastic like most credit cards. No mag strip, since you are not going to be swiping it anywhere. Its basically a paperlike card with your account number on it. Thats about it. And yes, you will receive a welcome package or letter from Paypal/GE. Not sure when they will link your SC account to your Paypal account, probably in a week or so.

bk you can go ahead and apply for the paypal debit card.Once your smartconnect shows up as a payment option in your paypal account you can use it as the backup payment method and then your paypal debit card will work just like a credit card.It just draws from your smartconnect line.
