Yuck. I hope that isn't the case. It was a small account, and is quite old. I just really don't want to waste a HP, and I'd prefer not to try to Recon as I never had any successes with it. I guess we'll see when the time comes to app.
Hi notfancy, I would NOT worry about your Providian that went bad...I had a Providian CO of 7.5K and the Chase Recon guy (I didn't even need a recon/ had him on the phone just in case) said that he really care about the bad Providian Card I use to have...Guess it was true, I got approved for a Chase Freedom for 11k, I could have probably got the CSP, but I want all my cards to have NO AF...the Recon guy said If I want the CSP, just do a PC in 12 months...I think you will be fine, don't worry about Providian....
Thank you for that. Maybe when I do take the plunge, I'll do what you did and have someone on the phone with me while I apply! (hopefully he'll be as nice to me as he was to you!) I'm still sort of researching my options. I can't actually apply until June. Working on some remaining baddies on my report still and they're being stubborn about coming off. Also, if you look at my signature, you'll see I have quite an embarrassing number of inquiries.
I guess the reason I call the RECON DEPT even before I APP, is to get the RECON ANALYST working and spending time with me by apping with me and pulling for me as if we are on the same team....so If I get denied, he or she will approve it for me since they spent a lot of time with me and got to know me and my intentions better and to show that I am a just a good guy that loves their bank and would love to have their product offering...
Very cool idea, and it makes a lot of sense. I've never really given any thought to getting an analyst on the phone prior to approval. I may have to try that some time!
