Question about removing baddies

OK, let's say you write a GW letter to a credit card company, and they agree to remove your late payments. Great! It's off the credit report, yada yada.

But will the company still have record of those late payments in their internal systems? I ask because this could affect that particular company's trust in you, and cause them to keep feeding you higher rates even though your credit report and score show you as nice and healthy.

Re: Question about removing baddies

Most of the time, they will still have internal records.  Sometimes they only go by what is on your CR, so once they remove a late payment, for example, they will forget it was even there.

A friend of mine was able to GW some very old lates from a Citi account.  Then he called and asked for a CLI and the CSR said, "I see you have an excellent history on this account."  He almost replied, "Uh, if you say so," but bit his tongue.
