Question about status on application with SC through Orchard

About a month ago I applied for a secured credit card with Citibank. They turned it down and sent me my money back so I tried applying for a secured card with Orchard Bank last week. They debited the $300 from my checking account, but when I go to log in to check the status of my aapplication it says "We are unable to finalize your credit card application. You will be hearing from us within the next 10-14 days. Thank you!".

Does this mean that they are still processing it or that they turned me down? I cannot believe how difficult it is to get a freakin secured credit card. I have never declared BK, had any foreclosures and repos. Most of my baddies are five years old.

Re: Question about status on application with SC through Orchard

I don't know. I have a secured Orchard (but not for long). Could the status be that of a prior app?

If it is bad, well, IMO, it really is good, if you know what I mean. There are other secured cards out there. National City, BofA, WAMU, and your local CU. Some banks do that too.

Re: Question about status on application with SC through Orchard

I really don't want to have to apply for anymore SCs since I already have two inquiries on my CR, which will remain on there for two years. I'm going to be super mad if I get turned down by Orchard. It seems like the majority of people on here get approved.

I can't apply with BoA because I had a regular CC with them and they wrote it off once it hit $3,500. They've also reported the card twice and that I had a line of credit with them for $5,500. I've never even had a LOC in my entire life! I've had a savings account with my local CU for over 30 years but they don't offer SCs.

Re: Question about status on application with SC through Orchard

2 isn't that bad...I have 27 on EX (since August! Smiley Surprised), 2 or 3 on TU, and about 18 on EQ. I haven't really app'd in a long while (except today for CCCU), but except for one Amex denial, none of my denials mentioned excessive inquiries as a reason. I'm not saying, though, to app away. Inquiries only hurt your score up to a year. Most CCs will place weight on the last 6 mo.

What do your inquiries look like on each of your reports? You could always app based on inquiry count on each CR. You mentioned BofA and Orchard, well those mostly do EX. You could always try something that would pull EQ (mostly CUs) or TU , for example.
