You can apply for a 2nd card and be eligible for any match offer, but you do have to have your first card for a year before they will approve a second.

DJ, if used correctly isnt the Discover Miles card actually like a 3% cash back first year?
Why yes, yes it is... And iv heard rumors of even higher amounts of cashback.. Think (dont quote me on it) you can particpate in Discover Deals with the Miles.....
=)

Discover Rocks! I will probably go fo a 2nd card, probably "Miles," in 2018 or so. Hopefully there
still offering double your cash back.
This double your cash back program has been a great marketing success for Discover. I wonder
how many new accounts Discover has opened as a result of this marketing program?
I don't think I'd want a second Discover. I say that as someone with an old joint account on which it's a hassle to get a CLI.
I like my Discover, but their other cards are so similar that a second one would be superfluous once the 3% ends. If I could only get value from a card for a year, I might as well pick up something with a nice bonus.
