Question on Amex Apping

If we apply for Amex and app is declined. Do we have to wait 30 days before we apply again or can we try before 30 days? If we app before 30 days does it have any flag to decline the new app? How often does Amex update their internal database?

Re: Question on Amex Apping

I don't think there is any limit in between. At one point I had app'd 3 times in a month and that was never a reason given for decline.

I'm wondering maybe now that I'm in with them they might consider recoding some of those inqs to soft.

Re: Question on Amex Apping

Hi fretless, did you ask them to see if they would convert them from hard to soft? I would be curious if they would do that.

Wow. I didn't know CCC could convert inqs from hard to soft. If they can, has anyone had any experience with it?

They can, but will most likely not be willing.

When you apply for new credit, expect a hard INQ, regardless of whether you have an existing relationship with the lender.

This is the way all CCCs operate.  If you want them to recode the INQ, you better have a compelling reason.

Re: Question on Amex Apping

Hi ddd, yes I do have a Platinum. Eventually I want to get a good biz card for my business some thing like JetBlue and/or a credit card like Delta or Blue. My car loan brought my score by 30 points. I have to wait few more months for my score to up and then ask for it. Well we all learn.

Re: Question on Amex Apping

I have two amex cards in good standing. I am sure, I'll get biz card also. First, I think it is time for to focus on CLI for other cards and give a boost to scores. I have to start working on Macy's / Target / Old Navy / Dillards Cards CLI's.

It took me two years to go from 300 to 500 with Old Navy -- and I rarely used the card and usually PIF.  I'm not sure what their secret is.  It was an automatic increase.
