Hi guys.
i have used a bunch of prequalifying sites just to see where my credit stands with banks. Comenity is an issuer that sometimes does soft pulls, sometimes does not. For example, I opened a Burlington store card with them some time ago, the soft pulled me and even when I accepted the offe, they never did a Hard pull on me. It just never happened.
I called them yesterday to ask if the nfl Visa card did a soft pull. The lady on the phone said she thought it was a hp but I told her that the website only asks for the last 4 of your social during the app process, which usually indicates a SP. she said I was right that if the application only asked for a soft pull it MIGHT be a soft pull, she didn't know the answer though.
so my question is... if you apply for Comenity cards and you get denied, I heard it's only a soft pull if denied but a hard pull if accepted. Does anyone know? What's your experience with Comenity applications been?
I have the Comenity (now Bread Fianancial) AAA Auto Club and Caesar Rewards credit cards and they were both SP.
Got an invite being an Auto Club member as well as a Caesar's Total Rewards member.
Not bad for a SP - $14K SL limit on Auto Club Signature Visa and $8K on Caesar's MC.
Did a hard pull ever show up on any of your credit reports after you got approved?

IMHO you should just assume it will be a HP. If it turns out not to be, great.
I applied for the AAA Daily Advantage Visa Signature in May. Although it only asked to the last 4 of my SSN it was a hard pull from Equifax for me. I was planning on one so no biggie, but don't assume the last 4 bit means no hard pull.
No hard pull.
All SP.
Probably helped that I also have Sportsman's Guide VISA as well.
