Quick Question about that Amex "Backdating"

Hello, everyone, first of all happy new year =]

I was added as an AU in 2011 on my mom's Amex charge card, and it did showed up on my credit report that the account was opened in 2011

I'm assumign they don't backdate all the way to her own "member since date" ... Smiley Sad

Currently I'm not a primary account holder of any Amexican Express issued cards.

My question is: if I apply for a credit card, say, blue cash (assuming approved), would my "account opened date" be 01/2011, or would it be 01/2015?

Thanks very much and I appreciate your time!!

They don't do backdating for AU?

Re: Quick Question about that Amex "Backdating"

It would be the month you were approved as a primary and the year you were added as an AU.

So they still do "backdating" ...

Sorry for the questions, just out of curiousity, assuming if I'm approved for this card (01/2015), and then I'm removed from my parent's card as an AU (added 06/2011), later I apply for another AMEX card (say, 01/2016), do I still get the member since date (2011) that I got added as an AU?

Thanks!

I thought I read the exact opposite earlier today... someone wanting to piggyback dad's 1990 Optima as an AU...  too lazy to to go dig it up.  Maybe I'm confused...

You do not inherit the primary's MSD but if OP was added in 2011 as an AU, then they have locked in their MSD.

Re: Quick Question about that Amex "Backdating"

Your "member since date" is locked in at 2011 for all future cards since you were added as AU that year, it's that simple.
