Quicksilver One Dates? (confused)

I just got a QS1 card and am trying to find the important dates - statement date, reporting date, due date.  I chatted online with a rep and they were confused about a lot of it. They knew the due date will be the 14th.  They weren't totally sure about the statement date and had to check but they finally came back and said midnight on the 17th (but their lack of confidence on that wasn't very assuring).

The reporting date was kind of fuzzy and I never got a clear answer.  At first they thought  it was 2-3 days after the statement date.  Then they came back and said it was ON the statement date.

Do any of those dates jive with your accounts?  When is the reporting date?  And is it the balance on the reporting date that goes to the credit bureaus?

Yes, the balance that is reported on your statement is the one that gets reported to the credit bureaus. You can look on your statements and see your statement date. My statement cuts usually 3 days after my balance is due for Capital One. Yours may be different though. Best just to look at your statement.

Thanks.  It's a brand new card and according to the rep won't get a statement until August.  I was wanting to know how to time my purchases and payments between now and then.  Was hoping to avoid charging and having a high utilization reported before I could get the balance paid to $0.

Until you get your first statement, just pay attention to your due date. Capital One generally cuts their statements about 3 days after your due date, and then they report whatever balance you had at statement cut to the bureaus (they report to bureaus right after statements cuts).

Re: Quicksilver One Dates? (confused)

I opened my cap 1 qs account on November 10. My first statement cut December 6. Following month due date was the 3rd of the month. After your first statement cuts, you can request a different due date. It will take about 30 days for there system to change the date though. Example - I wanted a middle of the month date since I pay all household bills on the first. I requested the change around the middle of March. It took place in May. Rather than a new statement kicking out on the 6th, nothing happened until the 15th.

Edited to add: DH opened a venture account on Feb 2nd. His due date is the 26th. Statement cuts on the 29th.

Re: Quicksilver One Dates? (confused)

with cap1 i just make a payment everytime a charge posts to my account. all banks payments dont post as fast and are not as user friendly as cap one, but this is the safest way for me atleast.  i messed up with discover and they posted 79 dollars to the CRA Smiley Sad

Agreed. You take your due date...subtract a month..and add three days. Or you add three days to the due date and subtract a month. So his/her statement should cut the 17th of every month. I wont say this method works with all credit card companies but for Cap1 it does.

Re: Quicksilver One Dates? (confused)

I just happened to chat with a Cap One rep yesterday on this very issue. I opened a QS and Sony Visa card on the same day.

Sony Visa

First purchase made: June 3rd

Statement cut: July 4th

Payment due: Aug 1st

Although I'd placed a charge on the Quicksilver.before the Sony I haven't received a statement. Per the rep, it will cut soon.

Quicksilver

First purchase made: June 1st

Statement cut: July 12th

Payment due: Aug 9th

That lines up with jawbrkr's formula.

More than enough credit.
