Quicksilver WEMC Acquisition Idea

I'm going to try and "encourage" Capital One to upgrade me from the WMC to the WEMC.  The idea is to create a situation where Capital One has no choice but to upgrade me in order to make a profit.  I never carry a balance and redeem the rewards frequently.  This behavior prevents them from profiting on intrest payments.  This strategy alone hasn't been working so I'm throwing an additional enticement.

Since Capital One has no foreign transaction fees on its cards, I've started using my Quicksilver only for international orders.  While banks get bulk rates for foreign currencies, it's still a cost to process foreign transactions.  I'm hoping that by adding on this expense Capital One will upgrade me to the higher tier in order to collect more transaction fees and offset the cost of foreign transaction processing.

So far I've been buying from the UK as I'm a huge Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, and Downton Abbey fan.  I pose two questions to the community:

1)  What are your thoughts on this strategy?

2)  What are some great things to buy from other countries?

Is there a particular WEMC benefit you are wanting?

The only use I have for my no foreign transaction fee on my card is for is my server.  If you have any need for a dedicated server, usualy it is much cheaper to use the large hosting companies abroad.

Good luck getting a card that doesn't exist. The WEMC was a test run card that has ended, you'll have luck upgrading to a world MC though good luck.

1)  Cap 1 continues to issue WEMC cards.

2)  I already stated I had the WMC.

Re: Quicksilver WEMC Acquisition Idea

1) There is another recent thread where the OP just stated the WEMC is no longer offered according to the EO as have other threads stated this, but you may have luck who knows, but the threads appear to show otherwise.

2) yes you did and I somehow missed that, my mistake.

Good luck though, I hope your idea works and you are upgraded.

Your just wasting your time. WEMC is no longer offered. Just use what you have or get the Buy Power WEMC

if you want it so bad.  No other option

Re: Quicksilver WEMC Acquisition Idea

I've read in numerous threads that the WEMC is no longer available for the Quicksilver, so if these claims are correct your efforts will likely be in vain.  It sounds as if you would be making the purchases anyway, though, and since there's no FTF for any of Capital One's cards the experiment won't cost you anything even if it doesn't work out.

Things are always changing, though... if you are able to somehow get upgraded to WEMC be sure to let us know.  I love to read/hear success stories!  Smiley Happy

Maybe it is just me, but this strikes me as the OP seriously overthinking things.

@TwistedCircuits, the WMC is as high as it's gonna get with CapOne unless you choose to app for the Buy Power card that is issuesd as WEMC.  With that being said, unless you have a spectacular credit score/profile be prepared for a very low limit if you choose to go for this card.
