I just noticed that CapOne is offering an upgrade on my QS card, but I'm not seeing the point of accepting the upgrade. Both have no AF, but the QS gets 1.5% while VO gets 1.25pts.
I don't really use my QS because I'm bucketed to subprime with it since it was my first card; I just keep it for credit age and use better cards. That being said, I'm wondering if anyone can make a compelling argument that I missed as to why the VO would be an offer worth taking.
If there's value I'm missing, I'll gladly listen.
I say Quiksilver over Venture..Btw Your card probably is not In the Bucket. You most likely dont put Heavy spend on that card and thats why its not gonna grow i noticed From Data points when you first get a Qs or better its best to make it your Daily Driver for 3 to 6 months and the the flood gates open most people with High limits from (Growth) actually use their card as a daily Driver
No real reason other to say you did a pc

I am in the same boat as you with the QS - no reason to upgrade. I wish they would come out with a product that would benefit an upgrade.

Right, the only reason to do so recently expired, the 10x hotels.com promo which was on VO and not QS. Now the "upgrade" is clearly a step down.
I can't make an argument for why you should upgrade. I can just say I had the same choice and took the upgrade from QS 1 to Venture 1. Why? I'm trying to build that card to a higher limit and, eventually, I hope to upgrade to Savor (or qualify for a Savor card on a new app). I didn't want to refuse the upgrade and have capital one think I was ungrateful. I have absolutely no data to suggest they would see it that way. It was just superstition I think. Since then I have gotten some better cards in my wallet (including starting my relationship with NFCU, a high limit VISA Signature from Wells Fargo, and Amex Gold). Still, I keep using my Venture One as a daily use card on which I put a fair amount of spend because I want to see if they'll give me another big CLI when I'm eligible in a couple months. If so, great. If not, I'll probably stop using it as my daily driver.

Going from QS1 is different as that has an AF. But, IMO, worrying about an issuer thinking you were ungrateful is indeed superstitious!

Ability to do mileage transfers to frequent flier programs/hotel programs to keep accounts alive with a no-AF card. This is impossible with Chase UR (everything that lets you do that is $95 AF and up), for Amex it's the Amex Everyday or Blue, Citi it's the Rewards+.
It's not great value vs. a QS given that your transfer value is less than a mile a point for most partners (.9375 for the 1.5/2 ones, .625 for the 1:2 ones) but given that C1 is a little looser than Amex or Citi there is a niche case for it.
I might do something similar (PC downgrade Venture->VentureOne to dump the annual fee) if C1 won't waive my Venture annual fee this upcoming year or give a retention offer that pencils out, because I now have AMEX Green (I really don't NEED the Venture for anything now that I have an in with AMEX on their charge cards; I have Visa Signature on a different keep forever no-AF card... but the five digit C1 overall tradeline is something I definitely want to keep), and I have a QS MC already (so don't need two of them)- will probably reallocate most of my credit limits over to the QS to see if C1 will give me a MC World Elite on the QS (it's my only MC, so having access to the MC hotel program would be nice), downgrade the VentureOne Visa to a lower CL and settle for Visa Platinum or whatever they hand out.
I lose the cool metal card but oh well. It's just not worth $95 a year if I get everything++ I'd get on a Venture from Amex Green.
The 10x Hotels was a big hit, and being the Chase ecosystem, I have a much better points system to use.
Since I already have a blue travel card in the wallet, I guess I'll just keep that silver one like it is unless CapOne actually does what the rumor mill is churning about a new card in the works.

It would be an, um, interesting time to unveil a premium travel card (that nobody can use because nobody is traveling).
