Got a letter in the mail today that my existing REI Visa was going to be switched to the REI Mastercard.
Seems everything is the same except we'll now get 2% back on groceries through March 2016. Wonder what precipitated the change.
Kind of a bummed about the change - my REI Visa was my first Visa Signature card. ![]()

Didn't get that mail.
But I'll keep an eye out; thanks for the heads up.
I don't see the change on their website though;
https://www.usbank.com/credit-cards/reI-visa-credit-card.html on US Bank website
http://www.reivisa.com/credit/welcome.do?redirect=directTraffic&lang=en from REI website

No worries. If you look at the REI Visa app section, it mentions if you want the $100 REI GG, you can sign up until 03/22. I did a google search on the REI Mastercard and found this:
It's the same info I got in the mail today.
I wonder if this is EMV related. Visa is known to be very anti-PIN in the US compared to MasterCard and REI has a lot of customers who travel abroad.
Just got the same letter yesterday as well.
I just received that letter, too. What impact (if any) will it have on FICO score? Will it affect my credit history?
REI card is issued by US Bank? I guess I don't need that card, since my US Bank Cash+ can give me 5% cas back on all sporting good stores if I choose that as just one of the 5% categories. And yet people always complain about the Cash+...

Welcome to My Fico ![]()
It will have 0 effect on both of your questions, its a simple PC that will retain all the current info,.

This is true. Set up 5% as sporting goods, 5% for department stores, and very little need for any store cards.
And even though the REI card has EMV, it's got 3% FTF so all those outdoors folks (me included) would still have to consider another card for travel.

It is kind of odd to me that there is a 3% FTF on a card aimed at people who like adventure (and probably like to travel for some of those adventures).
