Rdside benefit

Wondering what cards offer roadside referral as a cardmember benefit... Called Cap 1 my Visa issuer and was told to call Visa directly. Called Visa and was told by 2 CSR's that ALL Visas have roadside not just Signature. However on the Visa website it states only Signature cards do. So emailed Visa and received a reply saying only Signature cards offer it and for other Visas, Platinum inclluded, it is up to the issuer. Back to Cap 1 and they wouldn't add it to mine. Said I could apply for one of their MC's which comes with roadside and then combine the accts. Don't want to do that in this climate and take the chance they will lower my Visa limit as my income is less. Plus I've had the Visa for about 10 yrs.

Discover only offers the benefir on business cards and no AF AMEX only if you are over 100 mi from home.

Enter MC. The MC site says all gold and Plat MC's come with a rdside referral benefit. Yes I know it's simply an 800# but at least you don't have to try finding someone to assist you on your own and can avoid paying annual AAA fees if service isn't needed.

However the only 2 issuers I've seen who actually mention it as a benefit are Cap 1 on their MC's and HSBC. Interestingly enough Cap 1 says rdside comes with their Orbitz Visa but if you then look @ the Visa benefit pkg on the Cap 1 site, rdside isn't listed.

So do all issuers of MCs have this rdside benefit even if not mentioned among benefits listed on their websites?

I know B of A AMEX cards do but I'm not interested in doing further business with B of A. What about Citi AMEX? Thanx!

Re: Rdside benefit

I don't know which cards do but you may want to hold off on any apps for Cit cards since (supposedly) they may enter bankruptcy tomorrow or the beginning of next week.  They already suspended trading on stocks and apparently have been turned down for assistance from the government.

I so misread and typo'd - please disregard - will teach me to post at work!

Re: Rdside benefit

Wow you mean they aren't too big to fail and aren't going to be bailed out again before they want to buy a private jet or something? Actually i did see something about this the other day on the forums.. Just read something about CIT perhaps going bankrupt and was declined for added govt help. Are CIT and Citi the same? Said CIT is a major lender to small and medium-sized businesses and its failure could cause disruptions in the apparel sector.

Re: Rdside benefit

Wow I managed to mess that up in all kinds of ways - I thought you said Cit and that I had typed that - apparently whilst answering the phone at work my fingers got away from me...

so no, not related, it's cit that is going bankrupt not citi - don't want to panic people!
