Really Amex!!!

So I've used my Amex ED 3 times and yesterday after my iPhone fell in the pedicure tub, which I'm still traumatized about, I go to T-Mobile to call the insurance company, because it's 2015 and I'm sorry I only have a cell phone, which according to AMEX is absurd, and my card is denied! I'm standing there looking crazy trying to figure out why. I finally get the new phone ordered and a loaner phone by using my old stand by BOA. I call AMEX to see why my card was denied. After 4 complete disaster of a call, finally I was informed that they want to make sure it was me using the card. I go over the transactions I made and the CSR is like ok but we need to call you on another phone line to make sure it's you. Are you kidding me??? I just gave you all of my life details, all transactions made, time & price and you don't believe it's me and I'm calling you from a loaner phone, with the same number that's listed on my account. I don't have another phone!!!!!! So I'm told they are going to email me some forms that I must get filled out, take to a bank to get notarized and then send them in!!!!!! **bleep**!!!!!! I'm confused isn't this card the EveryDay Card and that's what I've done used it for very small purchases everyday. I've only bought a coffee, snacks and then yesterday I tried to use it for the phone deductible all within footsteps of my house. Sorry for the rant I'm just livid right now.

That's ridiculous.  I know they need to be proactive to stop fraud but sometimes they go a bit too far.  Hopefully it won't take too much time to get the card active again.

I'd tell the rep "F that cancel the card now". I have 2 Amex's but if they ever did that to me I'd be gone in a heartbeat.

Re: Really Amex!!!

I was sitting in an oral surgeon's chair with my mouth open when the secretary came in and said my Amex credit card had been declined.

Since I had much more available credit than was needed on the card, I was perplexed, but couldn't get involved talking to Amex at the time; had to put it on another card.

When I eventually spoke to Amex later on they said it was because their antifraud department had put a hold on it due to the fact that I'd changed my billing address from home to office a couple of days earlier.

Ridiculous.

I blame Apple for this.  They should have made the iPhone waterproof. Smiley Wink

Seriously though, good luck to the OP with getting this straightened out.  I'd be upset as well.

Same issue with me last month...I change my phone number from home to cell but the number never changed and also I shortened Court to Ct on my address. How is that a fraud alert to them?

I'm confused. What other phone did they want you to call from? This CSR sounds like an imbecile.
