Poor experience: Back in February I called because I was upset that I couldn't receive a CLI from $1,500 to match or even come close to my other 15-20k lines w/ AMEX, BOA & CHASE. After the rep gave me a 'foreign but US BASED' stuttering run around, I said I wanted to escalate the matter and that I was either getting a CLI on this account or I would be closing my account.
I get placed on hold for an "escalation manager" - about 5-7 minutes later the manager comes on the line without a clue as to what I'm calling about and says, "sir it looks like your calling about a closed account, how can I help you?" - The previous rep had closed the account before transferring me without notifying me or confirming whatsoever. I explained the situation and the manager apologized and said he wasn't in a position where he could open a closed account. I completely lost it and vowed never to do business with this company ever again.

Wow! Now that's awful. Looks like Discover needs to work on their customer service in a BIG way! That's beyond ridiculous
One thing that also stood out about my conversation with the EO is that I told him I was part of the myfico community and I had a thread going about my situation and he just arrogantly said "what's that?" as if he never heard of it. I explained it to him and he could care less, he said he knows all about the fico scoring model but never heard of this place. Maybe he was telling the truth but either way he acted as if I was an idiot when I brought it up. I'll use my card a couple times a month and that's all unless they give me a CLI.

Wow that's legit terrible. I had an app denied by Discover last month and had mixed experience talking to the reps. I had this card on my list of cards to get even after that but Chase has really impressed me and I think I'll just stick with my Freedom and walk the path of CSP, Marriott etc etc. Freedom with UR really makes me feel like I have my basic rewards card covered. Need SM and Cash + now.
Well. IMHO> and im sure many will blast me for this. hehehehe
You got what you deserved. You are calling them as if you are entitled to what they assign you.
To threatend to cancel because you did not get increase.
Im with the rep on this. Good Riddance. !!!!
I agree with that from destintogrow. That's why I said what I said. Did not mean harm but why threaten a bank. With bad statements.
Its their money not yours. Goodness.

You have to be careful with the threat to close accts. I use to work for chase and have had customers tell me to close their account and once it's done they want it reopen. Most of the time they want it close based off emotions.
+1 emotions that are snap judgements and idle threats to get their way weather right or wrong.
I've seen this to many times here and then the person goes off again because CSR supposedly suck because guess what they closed the account per your request...
Credit decisions should be based on thought not with the heart especially when its pumping with adrenaline
