And about the secure credit card, rather than closing it, you can conctact capital one and ask them to convert it to other cards, that way you don't have to close the account and convert it to any other reward card that you can actually use.
AFAIK, the type of credit profile that would get a Credit Steps offer wouldn't qualify for the regular QS. Also, Cap One unfortunately doesn't graduate secured CCs to unsecured. :-(

Unless you get a PC within the first 6 months. I just completed my PC's on both my Cap 1 cards from Platinum to Venture One and QS1 to QS within 2 months of being approved. They stated that the steps CLI is still valid for both cards.

I had one visa platinum card and 2 months old quicksilverone mastercard. Last night I asked them to convert visa platinum to quicksilver visa, and quicksilverone to ventureone, which they converted them for me without issue.
I forgot to ask if my visa platinum will be converted into visa signature card, I just have to wait until my new card arrive and see if I got visa signature or visa platinum.
anyways, try contacting them using live chat from the website and ask them if you're elligible for card conversion.
@Anonymous wrote:Thankfully, I am rebuilding my credit and only had a Macy's and Secured CAP1 card up until now. Last week, I was approved for a Quick Silver card from Capital1 with a CL of 1k. I noticed a few people saying that contacting the EO/Facebook helps get a CLI.
It's only been a week and I don't mean to sound greedy but I'd like to put more of my charges on this card so I can utilize the cash back rewards however 1k may not be enough. Is it too soon to contact them regarding a CLI? If not, could someone with experience chime in and let me know exactly what steps I should take and what I should tell them?
Also as far as my CP1 Secured card... (Macy's Store card is oldest, but the secured card I've had for a year now)... would it be safe to cancel it or should I SD it and leave it open? I don't want to make a bad choice and have it hurt my score.
I'm asking as many questions as possible since I am determined to get my Fico up within the next year or so. Currently CK is reporting around 630.
First. Cap 1 does not bow to pressure. Lol. But you can tu. You will have to wait for cli like everyone else. If you just got. Read you letter. It should say if you make 5 payments on time you will get cli. With responsible use. People here are mostly talking about 2 nod cli
2 even secure. Since it's a year. It's the oldest. Don't cancel don't close. You can sd. As it's helping your credit. Think like this. If you close. You got 1 old card year old. 1 new card. 2 cards combined. You just dropped your average age to 6 months.
3 card. 2 old and 1 new.
2 at a year old. 12 months. X 2 plus new. Dived by 3 x cards. Average is 9 months. So just leave it until new cards get some age. Then cancel
Let me give you some words of advice. There is no ASAP when it comes to credit. If you are sitting around 630 score then I must take it there are some derogs on your reports. Dont app for anything now instead try and work on the derogs for the next 6 mos then if your score has reached around 660 ish I would app for walmart store card and or amazon.
Barclay Rewards MC for average credit would be your best bet. 6 months before I would request a CLI . For best results garden as suggested.
I have a question about my own C1 QS. It started as $300CL Plat MC Jan 2014, then $500 Plat MC August 2014, then I just PC"d it to a QS Sep 2014.
I've tried calling & chatting about an additional CLI b/c I literally have to make a payment on the damn cardalmost every damn day b/c the posting delays take so long to clear for payments. With my scores currently in my sig & assuming they improve by a modest 20 points 4-5 months from now when my repo falls off, will I just be looking at a meaningless CLI from $500 to $750? It seems like a waste of time trying to rebuild this way as my only CC.
I have what seems like a legitimate preapproval from BoA Cash Rewards and also Chase Freedom which I'm starting to think will be higher limits and help me build up faster in the long run.

my oldest credit card which was 11 year old visa platinum 300cl, I requested for credit limit increase numerous of times, but constantly got denided.
Since I only had 2 credit card, 300 cl from capitalone and 3600 from discover, I decided to apply for new cards. When I got quicksilverone with 3000 cl, I asked capitalone if they could increase my visa credit limit, and of course they rejected again.
A week later when I got barclay reward card for 1500 cl, I asked capitalone for cli for *beep* and giggles, and what do you know? they approved 3000 cli. I don't know what changed within a week, but heck, I'm happy.

Hey Tarhell81nc,
I suggest you try contacting/going through the EO. As long as you're using the card a whole lot they shouldn't have a problem looking at it. I was able to get 2 increases from the EO office only have the card 3 months.
