I haven't experienced it personally probably since I primarily bank with Chase, but they can and will. Chase usually just shuts down the account/s and revokes the points.
Well we dont want that. Guess ill be putting 25k down on the app. I was planing on getting the CSP and then PC to CS when it comes time for the AF. Im basicaly In this for the signup bonus and then getting the CS.

Yeah I got mine for the bonus too. I applied in the bank since they offered a lower spend to hit the bonus.

I'm having problems with the reconsiderations. I've never been successful at them. I haven't tried but a few however, the experiences I am reading about online don't seem to be what happens to me whether or not I use a backdoor number or the number on the denial. Same outcome. So far my experience has been them reading my denial and not listening to me or asking me any questions. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. When I call in, I tell them I would like to be reconsidered on my denial and they ask for my ssn and from there I get no where. Should I be asking for a manager? Is there a specific reconsideration department? One place told me they don't have "an application department" so there is nothing anyone could do. One sounded like I was in a call center in India and that person was VERY belittling toward me despite that I was very polite to him.
Can someone break this process down for me? What do I say? How do I ask? How do I know when I am talking to the right department or person? Should I persist if the person says they cannot help me? Continue asking for supervisors? I really am unsure of the process to do this from start to finish.
On the brighter side, I got a Cap Sparks (I own a design business since 2006) with a small $500 limit and a Kays card for $1000 - it's all a start and I'm thankful I got those! I don't seem to be able to get approved for a secured card though which seems very weird to me.

It doesn't sound like you're talking to a Credit Analyst. Under "helpful threads" in the wiki towards the top of this page, click it and then click "backdoor numbers" When you call the credit analyst specifically say "I believe I have been denied for xyz credit card and would like to request reconsideration". Let them ask what they need to ask, acknowledge any past mis-steps and your plan for avoiding them in the future. Just be honest with them but know what you're applying for and why you want it. Having a copy of whichever CR they pulled handy is also helpful.
Thank you!
