If not, I would say that paying with a check is your best option.
One additional thought -let's say you had a credit card on which you wanted to use that spend to gain a CLI; for example, Discover. You could consider using your Discover card for a time-limited period of a few months in a row to pay rent (use it, then pay it off a day or two later), and while there is no guarantee of CLI, it could help you achieve that particular goal. Then, go back to using a check and paying no fees under that method.
The fee is the same for debit card. Debit cards are free with Radpad. But there is still the fee for the gift card itself. It's best just to set up a cash back debit card with Radpad, maybe first use the Discover with Radpad because it is cheaper, then have the paypal account set up with cash back card, for free. Not sure if debit cards are free with plastiq, but I have had zero problems with Radpad. It is slowly becoming popular in the small complex where I live.
Paypal just changed their terms and conditions as well starting Feb 2016 incase you haven't seen..
It is ran as a signature purchase. Ah, guys. I know what I am doing here.
Sure about that coming Feb 2016? Appears you gotta put in pin now to get the 1% or 1.5% back unless I am still half asleep which is possible as I am currently laying in bed and working (working is losely used word here)

I had this very same dilemma when I first got my rewards cards. I didn't need to pay my rent with my CCs to meet spend for my bonuses, so it didn't make sense for me to pay my rent with my CCs, no matter how many ways I looked at (including RP and Pq). So, I continue to pay rent with a check. However, Monoglot recently mentioned that one could fund their bank account with a CC in certain circumstances and have it NOT count as a cash advance. Unfortunately for me, none of my current CCs offer this option with any of my current banks, so I can't take advantage of this, but maybe you can? In his (I think) post he (or someone) provided a link to the website which allows you to see which banks mesh with which CCCs. It wasn't that long ago that he posted this and maybe you'll have a better time finding it then I did! This probably won't work for this month, but for next month there's plenty of time to research!
Good luck!

Increasing numbers of merchants now are allowed to process bank-issued debit cards online or over the phone without PIN validation. Those merchants qualified to accept PIN-less debit payment can take advantage of all-in costs, which can be far below the expense of a credit card or a debit card transaction processed through the credit card networks.
Pin less based transactions are not signature purchases. Comcast will send using this method now, if you store your card with them. Humuhumu, once set up, runs stream less. The same as paying for your coffee for the month. Let it go, it's her choice.

They actually quit paying cash back a long time ago for those on my account. Had to be careful how I coded att and comcast. At the time, 1.5% cash back, each transaction (like quicksilver). Used this before full on rebuilding. Had account since 2003. I know my mcc, and how to use it. ![]()

If it works great for you, I'm really glad -and there are also valid reasons others have mentioned on here that they do not do it that way. She definitely has plenty of good choices now, I agree.

I remember that site. Unfortunately, some of the cards no longer exist, it is a bit dated. Very few cards actually work. Better to have CU cards that give cash on same interest rate as other charges.
As takeshi said early on, if you are not worried about meeting bonuses, which OP isn't, the basic calculation using rewards cards is VERY simple: do the rewards I get on the purchase overcome the fee. And even with a 2% card, you would get just over $18 in rewards, with the M/D fee being $25, so not worth doing. (With transferable miles cards, if you value TY or UR highly, might just be worth it with an MC card, but marginal).
So forget the option, either check or some more creative option. With the FNBO or Fid Amex, you could load serve, get the $18 in rewards and pay no fee, but is the extra hassle worth it? Maybe not.
