I had a Comenity card for Express since 2010. I used it once or twice a year.
I accidentally let too much time pass without using it (maybe 2 years?) and I didn't realize that they sent me a "secure message" through their website in March, presumably warning me that they were going to close my account if I didn't use it. I get a million marketing emails from Express and usually delete them, plus we were all worrying about other things in March so I wasn't paying attention.
I checked my annual credit report the other day and noticed the account was closed in April. Logged into my account and confirmed it was closed.
I am not interested in opening new cards, and I kind of like that my newest card is from 2014. I don't particularly need this card, though it got me some deals now and then.
Has anyone had success reopening a Comenity card (or better yet, the Express store card) without it showing up as a new account on your credit report? I'd be interested in reopening it (don't care about credit pulls) if it shows as opened in 2010. If it is going to show as a new 2020 account, I don't care enough to reopen it.
None that I have heard of. I voluntarily closed out my AKC Visa with them and on the letter they sent indicating it had been closed I had a 30 day window to call to reverse the decision.
At least you got a letter
Maybe I threw that out accidentally too. Who knows!
It's closed and done. They won't reopen. It would be new app and no backdating.
You should run spend through cards every few months, to avoid closures. Even just a pair of socks would do the trick.
Echoing the above, once closed, it's closed for good.
Some of Comenity's CCs have the option to reopen only within a week's time in the event they go inactive and a reactivation may be available.
