Reporting

Now when I applied for my Amex my score was 694,  I just checked today and its 704.  Now Im very happy that IM finally in the 700 club, BUT my score only went up 10 points after my Amex added 7x my available credit.  I thought it would be a 25 or 30 point jump.  Well let me stop complaining and celebrate being in 700 club.  Hopefully when Amex post to TU and EQ they will be in 700 so I can get a house. Why is 704 considered good instead of very good and I didnt know 700 was below average.

Your Experian FICO® score is good

Your score is below the average score of U.S. consumers, though most lenders consider this a good score.

  • FICO® Scores range between 300 and 850®
  • Higher scores are better scores
  • The higher your score, the more favorably lenders look upon you as a credit risk

Starting Score: 580
Current Score: 750(EQ) 746(TU)
Goal Score: 800

Re: Reporting

I think you have to hit above 720 to get the very good..... almost there..

Now as far as FICO telling you your score is below average, I thought the average score a few weeks ago was 696...hmmm.   The only thing I can say is that FICO is fluid and what is good today can be below average to morrow, depending on the database.

There should be a little percentile bar to the right that tells you where you are compared to the rest of the population.  I took a secodn look and the last score from TU that was 709, gave the same message, with the bar saying I was higher than 45% of the population.  With 50% being average, I guess that puts me below average

Well done.

And the median and average score seems to be somewhat of a moveable feast......Smiley Very Happy

Re: Reporting

And to correct Brammy (not that that happens often), over 725 will get you into the very good category. I went from 723 (good) to 726 (very good), though part of the report says the score is above average and another part of the report says it's about average...

Re: Reporting

Well, even though I do know from recent first hand experience, I still ask myself "what would Brammy do" and before ever questioning the great one in writing I always think long and hard..

My EXP score went up to 737 then back down to 729 from a BOA inquiry. EQ has peaked over 700 to 703 and TU sits at 680 while I wait for them to report 0 balances on several accounts. Sooo close to trip 7's, but I fear something will derail me (perhaps when the new BOA account reports, but you never know what will happen--that is except for Brammy). Any thoughts?
Rust never sleeps and neither does my fico score...
