...hey guys I recently posted asking if anyone had any success asking for a CLI upon activation of their CITI card, and the general consensuous was they were told you must wait 6 months before a CLI would be granted.
Today, I received my card, and though I'd give it a shot, and although I wasn't ultimately successful, she didn't shoot me down at first. I received the card with a 5K Initial Limit, and she told me I could ask for what I wanted, and she would try with a soft pull, and if it didn't work, she could attempt a hard pull to see if they could request it. She never mentioned that I needed to wait 6 months ever in the conversation. I asked for an increase to 10k and was told they needed further review and at this time I could do the hard pull if I wanted but I declined and said I would just wait it out a few months and she said ok. She was very nice though and explained some other things and then went on to get my card activated.
Hope this helps anyone who is interested in the CLI upon activation, because it seems that it can be done.
I just got the CITI Diamond Preferred and I am going to wait out the six months. Not to be critical of your post but I think all you learned is that a CLI request may be honored by the CSR at activation. We still have no evidence of a CLI being granted at activation.
And color me suspicious but I would not 100% be convinced that any action was actually taken other than the CSR saying "Well let me try... Pause... Canned response from previous experiences with CLI requests."
Oh by the way, I received a phone call from the credit department and was asked to fax in my last two paystubs for verification, went ahead and sent it to him while I had him on the phone still and everything was great! He said that was the max they could give at the time since it was a new account, but to try back in 3-6 months if I need more and they can see what they can do.
Just an FYI
