Ritz Carlton Retention Offer: $150 statement credit for keeping credit card

My annual fee just posted recently and I called in to ask if they have any retention offers on my account because when I called to cancel my Amex Platinum, they offered me a retention offer. The representative looked and said there's a offer of $150 statement credit to my account if I keep the card for another year, so I will do that. Not sure if it's something they have for all accounts or only certain ones but doesn't hurt to call and ask to see for anyone with the Ritz Carlton CC.

Nice that they gave you an offer...especially if you use the card.  I don't use my Ritz card much at all anymore so when my AF rolls around I'm going to close and move my limit to either my AARP.  Even with a $150 retention offer I still can justify keeping it for the little use it now sees.

Nice offer.. Ya when my AF rolls around I am going to AXE it.. With the CSR it makes the card pointless IMO along with having the AMEX SPG.  They need to overhaul this card IMO or they will lose alot of it to the CSR and/or SPG or a few different things.  Would take me 150/200 credit for me to keep mine after me 3rd year annual fee comes this november.. Just not worth putting spend on this card anymore to get GOLD at marriot when you can get that from platinum with other benefits and not tossing 10k away just for gold, etc.. Just my quick opinion on it.

I spend about $10,000 per year on it, I stay at a lot of Marriott, Ritz-Carlton and SPG properties so I rack up a lot of points and make it worthwhile. Would keep the Amex Platinum too but $550 is a bit too much. I got grandfathered in for the Ritz, so my annual fee is still $395. At least for now until they change it. CSR is a very nice card, I missed the golden opportunity back when they had the 100k bonus.
