SMS Phishing from “WF” ?

Anybody else get this via text?

I went to my Wells Fargo app and I don't see anything pending.   Guessing this is probably a phish tactic?

I don't think Wells Fargo uses characters from the Polish alphabet in its name, so--yeah.

Re: SMS Phishing from “WF” ?

I searched for the phone # but couldn't find anything other than it's from VA.

Welts Fargo?

Also the language seems slightly off: don't think they would say a payment was attempted, issuers using payment to refer to us paying them.  More "a charge/purchase was attempted"

Re: SMS Phishing from “WF” ?

Do NOT trust any phone number that is appearing on the phone. The phone number can get faked easily.

I had such incident a few weeks ago. A guy called me (with Italian accent Smiley Happy) and he was saying that please check the phone number that I am calling you. He asked me to go to a website to double check that the phone number was the contact information of a government agency. I simply replied that no government agency would call an individual for any purpose. He hung up.

Re: SMS Phishing from “WF” ?

It was a funny phone call and it happened twice Smiley Happy. First, he called and my phone identified it as a "potential scammer". After asking me to visit the webpage of a government agency by his Italian accent Smiley Happy, I told him that my phone says that you are potentially a scammer and I asked him that within a minute, please describe what you want since I need to attend a meeting. He said that I cannot describe it in a minute and I will mark your application as incomplete and he hung up.

After an hour, he called again. I told him that you are again the scammer that called before, since no government agency would call an individual. He hung up again. Unfortunately, he did not call again to hear more hilarious things in Italian accent Smiley Happy

I would also think a "Payment" at Best Buy would instead say a "Purchase" if it were real
