Second Walmart Card ?

I was trying to get the walmart discover since I already have the Store card, and submitted my application.  As usual GEMB process and procedure dictates that I have to call in and make sure that my application isn't stuck because of ID verification (even though I have about 8 GEMB accounts); I have to call, they will not call me to verify..Naturally...and would surely decline me if I didn't.  After, about 3 calls and several days, I finally find someone that will actually finalize my app.  We go through everything, find the "security glitch" yet again that plagues all my GEMB apps.  I get transferred to the Fraud department for verification.  Passed the verification and end up with a SECOND WALMART STORE CARD!!   I could not believe it.  I thought only target issued multiple store cards to same individual.   Has anyone else experienced this ?

Did you try calling in on your current account and asking to be upgraded to Discover?

I did ask to convert. They told me to re-apply....Kinda felt like a middle finger.  It's ok, though.  I can pretty much get any store card from them, just not real credit cards.

I think you got someone that didn't know what they were doing.

Other people have posted about upgrading.

I just upgraded Chevron to the Visa, it kind of sounds like an application when they go into it, but they give you approval on the spot

I just got a chevron card a month ago, for the mix,  I wonder if it were possible to convert it to the visa, or if it might be too soon.  One more bit of info:  I had an initial FA on my reports from august to December.  All their AR inqs happened while the FA was on EQ.   While trying to sort out the walmart card, the one helpful person at GEMB said that my account was flagged with a Fraud alert because I had one in my reports.  At the time I didn't think about it, but can this be the reason I am unable to get a Visa, MC or Discover out of GEMB ?

And if so, has anyone successfully removed said FA from GEMB accounts ?

I have always been told you can't upgrade that you have to re apply. I'm in the same boat they will give me there store cards but nothing major.

What about Stein Mart ?  I have never tried them since they only offer a MasterCard, and am afraid they will pull and decline (per GEMB no-real-credit-card-for-me policy)
